How to return an item to Urban Outfitters

When you order something online or pick it up in a store, it just doesn’t look or fit the way you hoped. Urban Outfitters gets that, and they’ve made returning or exchanging items easy. You can bring things back in person or send them by mail, and most returns only take a few steps.

How to return stuff to Urban Outfitters.

Return window

You have 30 days to return your items to be eligible for a refund.

  • For online orders, the 30 days start when the package is delivered.
  • For store purchases, the 30 days start on the day you bought the item.

If you return something within that time, you’ll get your money back the same way you paid. If you wait longer than 30 days, you’ll get an e-merchandise credit instead.

After one year, Urban Outfitters will not take returns or exchanges.

Holiday returns

If you buy something between Oct. 1 and Dec. 24, you have extra time to return it. You can bring it back or mail it until Jan. 31 of the next year for a refund to your original payment method.

How to return online orders

You can return online orders in two ways:

  • By mail. Start your return on the Urban Outfitters website or app. Follow the steps to print a prepaid label or use your own shipping method. Most mailed returns have a $5 restocking fee, which is taken out of your refund. Once Urban Outfitters gets your package, it takes about one to two weeks to process and another few days for your refund to show up.
  • In store. If you want to skip the mail, you can bring your item to any Urban Outfitters store in the United States or Canada. Bring your order confirmation email or packing slip. Store returns are free and refunds usually show up within one to three business days.

Items bought from UO MRKT sellers must be returned directly to those sellers, not to Urban Outfitters stores.

Returning in-store purchases

If you bought something in a store, just take it back to any Urban Outfitters location. Bring your receipt and make sure the item is in new condition. You’ll get your refund the same way you paid.

Returning furniture

Furniture has special rules. You have 30 days after delivery to return furniture shipped within the continental United States. Some furniture pieces have a restocking fee, which is taken out of your refund. Shipping fees are not refunded, and you’ll need to pay for the return shipping.

Make sure the furniture is packed safely and looks like new when it arrives back. Custom or made-to-order furniture cannot be returned or exchanged. Urban Outfitters will fix or refund furniture with a factory defect within one year of purchase.

What you can’t return

Some items are final sale, which means you can’t return or exchange them. This includes:

  • Made-to-order furniture
  • Sale items marked as final sale or ending in .95
  • Extra discounted items bought during big sales
  • UO MRKT items, which must go back to the original seller

Damaged or missing items

If your package arrives with missing or damaged items, report the issue within 30 days of shipping. You can start a return from your order page or contact customer service for help.

Use a trackable and insured shipping method, and write your order number on the label. Urban Outfitters is not responsible for lost or stolen packages.

Refund timing

Refunds are usually processed within one to three business days after your return is received. If you used a credit or debit card, your refund should show up on your statement a few days later.
