Amazon has conquered every aspect of retail except for designer fashion. That is, until the online giant teamed up with Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) on a high-fashion collaboration.
This post may contain affiliate links*Here’s the scoop on CFDA. In 2003, the CFDA and Vogue created the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF) to help emerging fashion talent weather uncertain times in the post-9/11 world. This year, CFDA chairman Tom Ford and Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour decided to repurpose the fund to help independent high-end designers who are facing tough times during the COVID-19 crisis.
Common Threads, a Vogue x Amazon Fashion collaboration featured collections from 20 (and counting) independent, high-end fashion designers. The collections benefited A Common Thread, the Vogue and CFDA initiative, with the goal of helping designers survive through tough times.
In the COVID era, fashionistas weren’t hitting the mall, but they could still shop Amazon from home. And that became more appealing once Amazon decided to feature top fashion talent in this collaboration.
Here are five designers that participated in Common Threads on Amazon.
Highlights from Common Threads on Amazon
1. Tanya Taylor
If girl power could be defined by one fashion line, Tanya Taylor would be a top contender. Back in 2013, Michelle Obama put the young brand on the map when she wore a dress by the Canadian-born designer. The vibrant prints are hand-painted in Taylor’s New York design studio, and are used to inspire and empower women while sparking joy and creativity.

- Trim: 100% polyester
With inclusivity in mind, the collection had sizes ranging from 0-22. Because your style should only be limited by your imagination and never your size.
One of our favorite pieces from Taylor’s from Vogue x CFDA collection was the Teresa tie-dye skirt. Tie-dye was a huge trend that summer, and this colorful print is the perfect example. An asymmetrical hemline that hit midi-length and the pleated waistband with ruffled layer details gave this skirt an easy, breezy vibe.
You could wear it with a simple white tee or cami and your favorite sandals — for the perfect effortlessly stylish summer outfit.
The black cotton Pilar top featured mid-length sleeves and ruffled detailing at the shoulders in colorful confetti print. From the keyhole cutout in the back to the silhouette of the sleeves, there was something to go gaga over from every angle. Whether you wore it with your favorite pair of jeans, a flowy skirt, or a crisp pair of white pants, you’d strike the perfect balance between casual and chic.
2. Chloe Gosselin
When Chloe Gosselin launched her brand of fabulous luxury shoes in 2014, she quickly developed a following among celebrities and shoe-loving fashionistas. If Carrie Bradshaw were still on our screens, we’re sure she’d have a closet full of Gosselin’s designs. Every shoe in the line is handmade in a small town just outside of Milan, Italy. And, each style is named after a woman who’s motivated Gosselin.

Inspired by close friend and flaming redhead piano goddess Tori Amos, the Tori Sandal was a sexy and chic heel that you could wear when you’re rocking out or just going out for a date. Once available in rich bordeaux, ivory, blush pink, or yellow, the Tori featured a top strap that’s adorned with a Swarovski crystal ornament for an extra special touch.

Another top choice was the Busy sandal, named after Busy Phillips. These were the perfect summer pumps, with thin straps that didn’t feel cumbersome. The blush leather option would work with anything in your wardrobe, while the multi-colored suede would stand out from the crowd.
3. Edie Parker
You could say New York designer Brett Heyman is a bit obsessed with high-quality vintage bags — specifically colorful evening bags with gorgeous hardware. After building a collection of over 100 vintage finds over the years, she decided to try her hand at designing her own, launching Edie Parker in 2011.
Quality is key when it comes to the line. Heyman wants her bags to stand the test of time, imagining someone somewhere in the future finding an Edie Parker bag at a vintage market and being inspired. Kind like the way she was inspired by designers who came before her. Since the brand’s launch, the line has expanded to include other accessories such as earrings and even home goods.
If one bag in this collection could encapsulate what Edie Parker is all about, it’s the mini Lara clutch. The handmade bag was available in a metallic rainbow confetti, silver confetti, or a neon pink marble pattern with an acrylic tab closure.
It was the perfect size to accommodate any phone, as well as other essentials like keys, a credit card, and a lipstick or lipgloss. Even better, the bag included a handy interior mirror.
As well, it was hard not to be charmed by the hand-poured acrylic cherry bomb earrings. They were 3 inches long, with tons of personality packed in — a great way to liven up the most basic outfit.
4. Victor Glemaud
In 2006, Hatian-born and New York-raised designer Victor Glemaud launched his line of always-bold knitwear. Designing for all genders, races, and body types, Glemaud focuses on creating styles that embrace and honor every customer’s individuality rather than making them conform.

With a simple light nude base, the tiered dress stood out with its colorful zig-zag accents. Made from naturally breathable and stretchy merino wool, this comfortable and stylish dress demanded to be worn everywhere, from trips to the market to a dinner date. The form-fitting dress hugged the body to flatter all shapes, and also came in a super chic black and white option.

You don’t need to use color to be bold, and Glemaud proved it with this black and white off the shoulder midi dress. The geometric pattern at the top and bottom of the dress made this cotton-cashmere blend a piece that surely would get you noticed.
5. Morgan Lane
At just 25-years-old, Morgan Lane already knew what she wanted out of her career when she launched her line of luxury sleepwear, lingerie, and swimwear. Lane’s design philosophy is that what you wear should feel as good as it looks, whether you’re hitting the beach or your bed.

It’s tempting to reach for your favorite worn out T-shirt and shorts when you’re ready to go to sleep, but wearing a nice set of pajamas actually helps create a good sleep hygiene routine. That can help you fall asleep faster and improve the quality of your ZZZs.
The Katelyn Fiona short-sleeve shirt and shorts PJ set would keep you cool and comfortable through these hot summer nights while looking stylish. Available in five color options, it featured contrasting piping, a design detail that elevated the classic look.
