French designer Guy Laroche rose from an assistant position at Jeans Dresses in Paris to starting his own eponymous brand in 1956. Laroche was known for being a great cutter and tailor. He won great exclaim by critics and patrons after featuring vibrant colors, plunging neckline, low back lines during a period of staid fashion. Laroche designs created a huge following among the A listers and he expanded his brand to perfumes, men’s ready to wear, lingeries and accessories. Laroche died in 1989 and Marcel Marongiu is currently head designer.
