Zappos is famous for its easy, stress-free shopping experience, and that includes returns. You can still send items back for free, but the company has made a few important updates to its return window and refund process. Here’s what to know.
Zappos return policy: The basics
You now have 60 days from your purchase date to return most items for a full refund to your original payment method.

If you miss that 60-day window, don’t worry. Zappos will still accept your return for store credit up to one year from the date you bought it.Keep in mind that guest checkout orders can only be refunded within 60 days. They’re not eligible for store credit later on.
What can be returned
To qualify for a refund or store credit, items must be:
- In new, unworn condition
- With all original tags and packaging
- For shoes, in the original shoe box (don’t stick a shipping label directly on it)
Final Sale items aren’t returnable or exchangeable, so double-check before you buy.
The Zappos return process
Returning to Zappos is simple and still completely free. Here’s how it works:
- Start your return online. Log in to your Zappos account and go to your order history. Select the item and choose either a UPS return label or a QR code.
- Choose how to drop it off. You can bring your item to any UPS Store and show your QR code — they’ll print the label for you. Or use the label-free, box-free return option at participating Whole Foods Market stores.
- Track your return. You can follow the status of your return and refund from your Zappos account.
Refund timing
Zappos starts processing your refund as soon as UPS scans your return. Most refunds appear within a few business days, though your bank or card provider may take up to 10 business days to post the credit.For PayPal or buy-now-pay-later services such as Afterpay, it might take longer, sometimes up to 20 to 30 business days.
