Cyprus born designer Hussein Chalayan launched his own label in 1994 and was twice named as British Designer of the Year (1999 and 2000). Chalayan’s contemporary designs are often inspired by science, latest technologies, philosophy and architectural details. His signature is using innovative materials with new age technology- creating a dress made of aircraft materials that changes shape via a remote control and a series of led lighted dresses for Swarovski crystal line. Chalayan also makes costumes for operas and dance performances. Chalayan has been the Creative Director for German athletic brand Puma since 2008 and the company has purchased a majority share of his eponymous label.
