Often mentioned as one of the “new asian” influences in fashion, Korean-American Richard Chai is known for his youthful, modern minimalist approach to style. Chai, who had internships at Oscar de la Renta and Dior, worked for Donna Karan and Geoffrey Beene, was the creative director for cashmere line TSE, and helped launch the line Marc by Marc Jacobs, had built a reputation in fashion before he launched his eponymous line in 2004. Known for his versatility, Chai mixes hand stitching and architectural styles with intricate quilting, pleats and origami folds. Recently, Chai partnered with discount department store, Target, as its 12th Go International Designer.
