Return basics

When returning items to Nordstrom Rack, make sure they meet these simple rules:

  • The item must be returned within the allowed window.
  • It should be in its original packaging, including hangtags, dust bags, or boxes.
  • It must not be worn, altered, or damaged.
  • Final sale or non-returnable items cannot be sent back.
  • Items sold by third-party sellers on Nordstrom (Marketplace items) cannot be returned to Rack stores or through Rack’s return system.

If your return does not meet these criteria, Nordstrom Rack may refuse it or not issue a refund.

Holiday and extended returns

During the holiday season, Nordstrom Rack offers extended return windows. For example, eligible purchases made between Oct. 6, 2025 and Dec. 24, 2025 can be returned until Jan. 15, 2026 or within the normal time frame, whichever is later. Always check your order details to confirm your eligibility.

Online purchases

If you ordered from NordstromRack.com:

  • You have up to 40 days from the purchase date to return items for a full refund to your original payment method.
  • Online orders can be returned to any Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack store for free.
  • If you mail the return, Nordstrom Rack provides a prepaid shipping label or a QR code. A fee of $9.95 will be deducted from your refund for that shipping.
  • If your return arrives after the return window closes, they may still accept it. However, you will only receive 50% of the purchase price as an electronic gift card, and the $9.95 return shipping fee still applies.

To get your full refund, it’s best to return within 40 days. After that, you may only get part of your money back as a gift card.

In-store purchases

If you bought something in person at a Nordstrom Rack store:

  • You have 30 days to return it for a full refund to your original form of payment.
  • You can return in-store purchases to any Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack location at no cost.
  • If you choose to mail your return instead, the same $9.95 deduction applies for return shipping.
  • Late returns may be accepted at Nordstrom Rack’s discretion. If accepted, you’ll receive 50% of the purchase price as an electronic gift card, minus the $9.95 shipping deduction.

Refunds

  • Refunds for in-store returns are issued to your original form of payment and typically appear within three to five business days, depending on your bank.
  • Refunds for mailed returns are processed within three to five business days after Nordstrom Rack receives the item.
  • If you used a gift card or Nordstrom Note, the refund is divided in the same proportions as your original payment.
  • If you return a gift, the refund is issued as a Nordstrom gift card instead of going back to the original purchaser’s card.
  • Original shipping charges from your purchase are not refunded.

Things to keep in mind

  • Late returns only receive half the purchase price as an electronic gift card and are reduced by the 9.95 shipping fee.
  • Exchanges are not available. You will need to return the item and make a new purchase.
  • Items marked Final Sale or Non-Returnable cannot be sent back.
  • Most beauty items are final sale unless otherwise stated.
  • Marketplace items purchased through Nordstrom cannot be returned through Nordstrom Rack.
