The Word: According to the March 2008 issue of Elle magazine, the models for the J. Mendel, Versace, Alexander Wang and Salvatore Ferragamo spring shows were reminiscent of shimmering bronzed statues: “Gorgeous and glamorous,� is how makeup artist Charlotte Tillbury, who created a bronzed eye for J. Mendel, describes the look. “It makes every eye color glow.�

Our Word: When in doubt as to what color eye shadow to swipe on, bronzey shades are always a safe bet. Every makeup drawer should have at least a couple safety shadows in its midst.
