Marshalls makes it easy to bring back an item that doesn’t quite fit your plans. Whether you shopped online or in-store, their return process is straightforward once you know the basics.
Holiday return window
If you’re shopping during the holidays, purchases made between October 5, 2025 and December 24, 2025 have an extended return period.
- In-store purchases can be returned through January 25, 2026.
- Online purchases can be returned through February 4, 2026.
Purchases made on or after December 26, 2025 follow the standard policy.
In-store purchases
You can return most in-store purchases within 30 days of the purchase date with your original receipt.
- Refunds go back to your original form of payment.
- Returns made after 30 days, or without a receipt, are issued as merchandise credit.
- Items must be unwashed, unused, and in sellable condition with original tags attached.
Bring your item to any Marshalls location for free. If you paid by check, there may be a short waiting period before receiving a cash refund. Merchandise bought in-store can only be returned to Marshalls, not to sister brands like T.J.Maxx or HomeGoods.
Online purchases
If you placed your order on marshalls.com, you have 40 days from the order date to return it.
- In-store returns are free. Bring your shipping confirmation email (printed or on your phone) and the original plastic packaging.
- Mail returns cost $11.99 per package, which is deducted from your refund or merchandise credit.
Mail returns must arrive at Marshalls within 40 days of your order date to qualify for a refund to your original payment method. Returns received after that time, or without a receipt or shipping confirmation, are refunded as merchandise credit instead.
Refunds for online purchases are issued to the same form of payment used for the order. Gift returns or purchases made with a Marshalls gift card are refunded as merchandise credit.
Oversized items and restrictions
Oversized products like area rugs or accent chairs may include additional shipping surcharges that are nonrefundable. These items might not qualify for online returns through the portal. To return them by mail, you’ll need to contact Marshalls customer service for assistance.
Shipping and handling costs are not refundable, and all returns must meet product condition standards to be accepted.
