Sephora return policy

  • If you’re not satisfied with a Sephora purchase or gift, Sephora accepts returns of new or gently used products for a full refund to the original method of payment, if returned within 30 days of purchase. Proof of purchase is required.

  • Effective date: This policy applies to all purchases made on or after April 24, 2025

  • Refunds / exchanges are subject to verification and approval. If return activity seems excessive or fraudulent, Sephora may refuse returns or take other action.

The details

Type of Purchase Return Method Condition / Time Frame Refund Method
Sephora.ca (Canada) purchases Return by mail (using prepaid label) or to a Sephora Canada store Within 30 days of purchase. Items must be new or gently used. Proof of purchase needed. Refund goes to original payment (credit/debit, PayPal, Klarna/Afterpay). If paid via gift card or store credit, refund will be in store credit or gift card as required.
Sephora.ca items returned in-store Return at any freestanding Sephora store in Canada Within 30 days; same condition requirement  Depends on payment method: usually original form of payment or as allowed by the payment (e.g. credit/debit, etc.).
U.S. purchases / third-party marketplace orders Varies (store returns or mail where applicable) Same 30-day window; new or gently used condition required; proof of purchase required.  Refund typically to the original method of payment.

Recent changes

  • Sephora ended the previous policy that allowed returns or exchanges (or store credit) for 31-60 days after purchase. Now everything’s strictly 30 days for full refunds in most cases.

  • The older tiered-credit windows (where after 30 days you might only get store credit) are no longer part of the standard policy.

Non-returnable items

  • Products marked Final Sale cannot be returned.

  • Gift cards are final sale — not refundable.

  • Items must be new or gently used; heavily used or damaged items may be rejected.

  • Sephora reserves the right to refuse any return, especially if there’s suspected fraud or abuse.
