The long wait is over– Hennes & Mauritz, a.k.a. H&M has finally opened the doors of its online shop to the US market. Starting August 1st, the Swedish budget fashion retailer will offer the same collections online as in-store. Plans also include additional sizes and exclusive “online-only” items available all year-round.

Aside from shopping from the collections, HM.com visitors can also find inspiration from “H&M Life,” sign up for the Friends and Family newsletters for exclusive previews and offers, and interact with both H&M and fellow customers on social media.
At the moment, H&M has close to 300 stores, thanks to its success in finding the sweet spot of profit margin in the low price-high margin market. However, one huge issue they will face is the $5.95 fees for shipping or returns. For customers who have grown used to both being free, it might be a deal breaker. (But early signups for the newsletter will entitle one to free shipping)

BTW, H&M will also be debuting a web-only line called the H&M Home. To be featured are stylish home decor products, such as bed linens, curtains and other home textiles and accessories in trendy colors and prints.
