Don Draper Style Lesson

Don Draper may be a fictional character on AMC’s hit Mad Men but his appeal has gone beyond just being a complex fictional character on TV. His appeal has, in fact, earned him the top spot for 2009’s Most Influential Man on

Part of what makes Don Draper so “influential” is his style (and the hair, of course). First and foremost, it’s the suit and Draper’s got suits in pretty much every dark neutral color- from gray and charcoal to black. During this fashion period, men’s suits were slim in cut with skinny lapels which in turn need to be paired with skinny ties.

If you’ve got the loot, you can spring for one of the Don Draper Signature Style Suits created by Brooks Brothers and Mad Men’s designer Janie Bryant, or you could check out our budget friendly options below:

I went to a function recently and was delighted to see so many well dressed men. There were all sorts of lovely lightweight wools and smart ties in the room that it was a pleasure to see.

I love guys in suits, especially if they’re grey, well fitted and with a skinny tie! I think that wearing a suit can make men look like they have a lot of power and that they’re ready to do business. Definitely one of my favourite looks on a guy.
