Founded in 2005 by California natives and sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte was launched with an initial ten pieces collection and soon became a favorite for fashion editors such as Anna Wintour of U.S. Vogue. Named after their mother’s madien name, the line is known for intricate handstitching and other detailing techniques not commonly found in newer lines. The Mulleavy sister have won several awards such as 2008 CFDA Swarovski Emerging Womenswear Designer award and the 2008 Swiss Textiles Award. Clients of Rodarte include Kirsten Dunst, Anna Wintour, and Karl Lagerfeld.
