Loft return policy: How to return an item to loft

The Budget Fashionista provides this review of the Loft return policy for informational purposes only. These policies are subject to change.

Sometimes a piece just doesn’t work out, and Loft understands that. Their return process keeps things straightforward so you can send items back or exchange them without any hassle. Here’s what you need to know before you start the process.

What can be returned

You can return or exchange unworn, unwashed, and defective merchandise by mail or at any LOFT store. Some items are exceptions, including those from the Swim, Brands We Love, and Intimates by Haven Well Within collections. Merchandise marked final sale cannot be returned, exchanged, or adjusted.

Return window and refund method

Loft accepts returns with proof of purchase within 30 days of the transaction.

  • Returns made within 30 days are refunded to your original form of payment or exchanged for another item.
  • Gift returns made within 30 days are refunded as an online e-gift certificate for the amount paid by the sender.
  • Returns after 30 days are refunded for the item’s current selling price as merchandise credit or exchanged.
  • Returns without proof of purchase are credited at the item’s current selling price in the form of merchandise credit.

One price adjustment can be made on full-priced merchandise within seven days of the original purchase if the item goes on sale.

Holiday returns

You can return purchases made between Nov. 12, 2025, and Dec. 24, 2025, through Jan. 31, 2026. As long as you have the receipt, you should get a refund to the original for of payment.

In-store gift purchases made between Nov. 12, 2025 and Dec. 24, 2025 can be returned through Jan. 31, 2026 with a valid gift receipt. You will get store credit or a merchandise exchange.

Store returns

If you bought your item in-store, you can only return it to a Loft store, not to Loft Outlet, Ann Taylor, or Ann Taylor Factory locations.

  • Returns with a receipt within 30 days are refunded to the original payment method.
  • Returns after 30 days, or those without a receipt, receive merchandise credit for the current selling price.
  • Gift receipts receive merchandise credit or an exchange.

A valid photo ID is required when receiving or using a merchandise credit in stores.

Online returns

You can return online purchases in two ways:

  • With a prepaid Loft return label: Start your return online, print the prepaid label, and mail the item back in its original condition. A fee of $8.95 will be deducted from your refund.
  • Using your own shipping method: You can also mail the package at your own expense to the Loft Online Store in Greencastle, Indiana.

For both options, pack the item carefully and include the printed return invoice. Loft recommends shipping each return separately and only including items listed on your invoice to ensure faster processing and eligibility for a refund to your original form of payment.

If multiple orders are returned in one box, some refunds may take longer to process and could result in merchandise credit instead of a full refund.

Important details

  • Merchandise credit issued online is sent as an e-gift certificate via email.
  • Merchandise credit issued in-store can only be redeemed in stores.
  • Returned checks are subject to a $25 service fee or the maximum allowed by law.
  • Final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged.

Ship the merchandise with your return invoice here:
LOFT Online Store
1901 East State Road 240
Greencastle, IN 46135

Note: You must include Loft’s return invoice with your return. Skip this step and your return will be delayed. You can get your return invoice from Loft here.

You can bypass the return shipping fee by taking your merchandise to a store. Items purchased in store and online can both be returned or exchanged in a Loft store.

  1. First, locate your nearest store. Returns and exchanges are easier and faster if you walk into a store. Note that you must return online purchases to a Loft store, specifically. Ann Taylor, Loft Outlet, and Ann Taylor Factory stores will not accept online purchases from loft.com.
  2. If you can’t or don’t want to walk into a store to make the return, initiate your return here. You will need your order number and the email address used for your order.
  3. Take photos of your paperwork and the items you are returning.
  4. Print your return label, provided by Loft.
  5. Pack up your items with your printed return invoice. Attach the shipping label.
  6. Take your ship-ready package to your nearest post office.
  7. Wait for an email from Loft confirming that your return has been completed.
