Well, guess what? I found a better way!

ROIL Shine Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve tried all kinds of different shampoos and thought I’d landed on one I loved. But then I tried ROIL Shine Shampoo and Conditioner.

Results

After a single use of ROIL shampoo ($27) and conditioner ($30), my hair was noticeably more manageable. It also looked so much stronger and healthier that, honestly, I was skeptical. I just didn’t think that amount of change could be attributed entirely to the shampoo. Maybe just a lucky day with the blow dryer? Or less humidity?

But after a month of use—and a long string of good hair days—I’m convinced. This stuff is amazing. My hair is soft, shiny, strong and manageable. And since my styling process hasn’t changed, it has to be ROIL Shine Shampoo and Conditioner.

My styling process

To be transparent about what products I use with ROIL to get such great results, here’s an overview of my styling process. I use a few pumps of Davines All in One Milk from mid-strand to my ends. At the roots on the top of my head, I’ll spray two pumps of Oribe Thickening Spray.

I usually start by running the blow dryer over my hair to remove excess moisture, using my fingers to separate the strands. Then I clip my hair up and blow dry it in sections with an old-school paddle brush. Once each section is dry, I’ll hit it with a cool shot of air. And that’s it! No hairspray for me, as I don’t like the feel of it.

The oil in ROIL makes the difference

The name ROIL is a clever combo of royalty and oil, and that definitely suits this luxurious product line. ROIL Shine Shampoo is infused with Amla, coconut and rosehip oils that provide moisturizing and antioxidant benefits. And the conditioner relies on Amla and grapeseed oils along with shea butter to detangle and protect hair.

The scent

The scent is intriguing and refreshing in an aromatherapy kind of way. I can’t quite describe it, but it has woodsy, citrus and pine qualities.

The texture

ROIL Shine Shampoo is thick and clear in color. It lathers up very well and then rinses away clean. The conditioner is also quite thick, but white in color. The product feels super luxurious as you run it through your strands. It detangles and softens without leaving any kind of build-up.

My only tiny complaint about this product has to do with the thickness of the conditioner. I love it because it feels so rich and moisturizing, but it’s also really hard to pump out of the container. I stopped using the pump, and instead just unscrew the top and dump some product in my hand.

Cruelty-free and vegan

ROIL products are paraben-free, made with organically farmed ingredients and are PETA-approved cruelty-free.

And about ROIL

Celebrity colorist and international salon owner Amanda George and her husband Emad Ghobrial launched ROIL in 2017. The line includes the Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, plus a body wash, hand wash, body lotion and hair masque.

I’ve also used ROIL body wash and enjoy it very much. It shares the moisturizing properties and scent of ROIL Shine Shampoo and Shine Conditioner—which makes for an indulgent shower experience.

Where to Buy ROIL

You can shop ROIL at roillife.com. While the pricing is more than what you’d pay for drugstore shampoo, it’s so worth it. I wash and condition just twice weekly, so the 10 fluid oz. containers will last.

If the price point makes you nervous, try the ROIL Love Travel Kit as a starting point. It’s a mere $15 and includes a travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and hand wash. If your experience with the shampoo is like mine, you’ll be hooked right away.
