The Budget Fashionista provides this review of the Dillard’s return policy for informational purposes only. These policies are subject to change.
Shopping at Dillard’s is always a treat, but sometimes you need to send something back. Whether the fit isn’t right or you changed your mind, Dillard’s makes returns pretty simple. Here’s how their current policy works.

Return window
You have 30 days from the date of purchase to return most items bought in-store or online. Everything must be in its original, unused condition, with tags attached and the proof-of-purchase label included. Items should also be in their original packaging.
If an item arrives damaged, defective, or was shipped in error, these limits don’t apply.
Holiday returns
Return-eligible items you buy between Nov. 1 through Dec. 12 can be returned through Jan. 11. Returns made more than 30 days past the original purchase date will receive store credit.
Returning in store
You can bring eligible items to any Dillard’s store, except clearance centers. Just bring the item, your receipt, or your proof-of-purchase label. Store associates can help you process the return at customer service.
Refunds are issued to the original form of payment. If you paid by check, there is a 10-day waiting period before a cash or check refund can be given.
If you are returning a gift, Dillard’s will provide store credit or a gift card for the item’s value.
Returning by mail
If you’d rather mail your return, go to your order history and click “Start Return.” Dillard’s offers a prepaid return label for $9.95, which will be deducted from your refund. Pack the item carefully in its original box along with the receipt or proof of purchase.
Mail your return to:
Dillard’s
600 Carnahan Drive
Maumelle, AR 72113
If you don’t want to use Dillard’s label, you can ship through your preferred carrier at your own cost. Make sure to insure your package and use a trackable method.
Some online items may also have a restocking fee. If that applies, it will be listed before checkout and deducted from your refund, in addition to the $9.95 label charge. You may additionally be charged a restocking fee, but the policy doesn’t define when this may happen.
Refund details
Approved returns are refunded to the original payment method, including sales tax. Purchases made through Afterpay will be refunded to your Afterpay account or issued as a Dillard’s gift card for the amount paid.
Dillard’s does not refund original shipping charges.
If you received an item as a gift and return it, you can exchange it or get store credit or a gift card for the item’s value.

What you can’t return
Some things cannot be returned or exchanged, including:
- Clearance items marked down 65% or more
- Items with additional discount promotions, such as: 25% off plus an extra 30% or 50% off
- Personalized merchandise
Does Dillard’s have a good return policy?
The Budget Fashionista rates the Dillard’s return policy as average, with a score of 3.5 points out of 5. The 30-day return window is standard, but Dillard’s charges a $9.95 return label feel and has unclear language around restocking fees.
Our Return Policy Score™ score evaluates the key return policy factors shoppers care about most: return window length, condition requirements, refund method, shipping costs, in-store return flexibility, marketplace transparency, processing speed, and overall policy clarity. Each category is rated on a 1 to 5 scale based on how generous, convenient, and easy to understand the policy is. The final score is an average of all categories.
