Did you know the holiday season starts now? That’s right — retailers are eager to get you into a shopping frenzy, so they’re using Labor Day sales to get the mood right. In the world of fashion and beauty, the sales this weekend are BIG, with savings up to 75%.
So you don’t go crazy, take a minute to list the garments, beauty products, and holiday gifts you need. Then dive into these top fashion and beauty Labor Day sales to see how much you can save.
Top Labor Day sales
Shop Gap for casual wear and basics. I love their jeans and button-down shirts, which are now on sale for $47 and $39 respectively. Those aren’t the ultra-budget price points you’ll find at fast fashion retailers, but the merch should last longer.
Here are the sale details: Save 40% off all regular-priced jeans, sweats, active wear, and t-shirts, plus an extra 10% off. Sale styles are marked down an additional 50%. Shop the Gap sale here and use code TREAT through September 5.
2. Chico’s off the Rack
Chico’s and its outlet store Chico’s off the Rack, have done a lot to shake off the “old lady” image of days past. You still won’t find racy bodycon at this retailer, but you can find lovely cashmere sweaters, midi dresses, and cute, patterned ankle pants.
3. White House Black Market
WHBM, Chico’s sister store, has a younger, but still tasteful vibe. I love their line-up, but I don’t do tons of shopping at WHMB — mostly because the regular prices are a touch outside my comfort zone. Oh, but when Labor Day ushers in savings of 50%…that’s the right time to buy.
Most of the sale items are spring and summer pieces, but who cares? The styles are classic enough that you can easily wear them next year if you live in a four-season climate.
Modcloth is, or should be, your favorite place to shop sweet midi dresses and a-line skirts. The vintage-inspired retailer has a quirky collection for sure, but it could be just what you need to show off your personal style.
For Labor Day, full price garments are marked down 30% and sale items are discounted 40%. Use code YAY30 now through September 5. Shop all Labor Day sale items here.
Bloomie’s is another store that generally outprices budget fashionistas. But you can’t beat a Bloomingdale’s sale for picking up an investment coat or trouser at a discount.
This weekend, look for garments marked down an extra 30% — pop those in your cart to see the price drop. That sale ends September 5. You can also find women’s denim marked down 40% to 60% through September 9.
6. Michael Kors
Shop Michael Kors this weekend if you’re in the market for a new bag or satchel. The brand’s best-selling tote bag in pink is marked down from $348 to a very friendly $59. There are many other styles selling in the low-$100s, too.
If you see something you like on the sale page, use code LDW25 for an extra 25% off. The sale runs through September 5.
It’s hard not to include Macy’s in any post about sales. The department store is constantly discounting something. Sometimes I wonder how they make any money at all.
I like Macy’s for business casual separates — things like blouses, shell tops, blazers, and cardigans. These are outfit workhorse pieces you can use to dress up or down an outfit as needed.
To save at Macy’s this Labor Day weekend, use code LABOR for an extra 20% — through September 5. Shop the sale items here.
8. JC Penney
If you can’t find the casual separates you need at Macy’s, try JC Penney. You’ll have to scroll past some awkward trousers from the Worthington brand, but that’s ok. Below those shapeless trousers, you can find cute boyfriend jeans, versatile tanks, and pretty blouses for $25 or less.
Shop the JC Penney Labor Day sale here. Use code HARDWORK for 20% off plus an extra 10% off. The sale ends September 5.
You gotta love a good Target sale. This weekend, the “Summer Send-off Sale” brings you savings of 30% on shoes, women’s dresses, select kidswear, and more. You could buy a few things for yourself and pick up a few holiday or birthday gifts at the same time.
Talbots, like Chico’s, caters to a more mature audience. I’m sure I fall into their target demographic, but some of the pieces can look frumpy to me. I generally scroll right past the pants and shop Talbots for sweaters and blouses.
Still, Talbots makes this list because the Labor Day sale mark-downs are as high as 70% on sale items. Regular priced styles are 25% cheaper. For those discounts, I’m willing to scroll to find the right deal.
LOFT’s Labor Day sale is all about patterned casual tops and dresses. Many of the sale items will be most useful with added layers or next year when the sun’s out again.
As a budget-minded lady, I expect you’re comfortable shopping off-season — particularly when you can save up to 75% off retail. The big discounts are on sale styles, but even regular-priced merch is marked down 30%.
Use code YAY and shop LOFT’s Labor Day sale through September 5.
Madewell’s collection is super wearable and manufactured with sustainability in mind. The price point and quality of the Madewell line-up puts these pieces in the “investment buy” category. Fortunately, the styles are classic and tasteful enough to be usable for the long haul.
This weekend, Madewell sale items are marked down an additional 40% to 50%. Use code LONGWEEKEND and shop through September 6.
From skinnies to the classic 501, nobody does denim better than Levi’s. And did you know Levis.com also sells tops and sweaters — for $30 or $40 a piece? That’s right.
Prices are even lower this weekend. The entire collection at levis.com is discounted 30% and kidswear is marked down 40%. If ever there was a good way to fight back against clothing inflation, shopping for the whole family at levis.com this weekend is it.
Shop the Levi’s Labor Day sale through September 6. Use code B2G2822.
14. ULTA Beauty
Now through September 17, ULTA Beauty is holding its 21 Days of Beauty Event — featuring daily deals with markdowns as high as 50%. You also get free shipping when you spend $35 or more.
The beauty steals change daily, but to give you an idea…today, Lancome mascara that’s normally $27 is marked down to a drugstore price of $13.50. Through tomorrow, you can save 50% on Clarins eye cream, Benefit Cosmetics eyebrow pencils, and cult-favorite Glamglow Supermud.
Those are my top picks for Labor Day sales, but you can find even more on our coupon page.
