Shop Gap for casual wear and basics. I love their jeans and button-down shirts, which are now on sale for $47 and $39 respectively. Those aren’t the ultra-budget price points you’ll find at fast fashion retailers, but the merch should last longer.

2. Chico’s off the Rack
Chico’s and its outlet store Chico’s off the Rack, have done a lot to shake off the “old lady” image of days past. You still won’t find racy bodycon at this retailer, but you can find lovely cashmere sweaters, midi dresses, and cute, patterned ankle pants.

3. White House Black Market
WHBM, Chico’s sister store, has a younger, but still tasteful vibe. I love their line-up, but I don’t do tons of shopping at WHMB — mostly because the regular prices are a touch outside my comfort zone. Oh, but when Labor Day ushers in savings of 50%…that’s the right time to buy.
Most of the sale items are spring and summer pieces, but who cares? The styles are classic enough that you can easily wear them next year if you live in a four-season climate.

4. Modcloth
Modcloth is, or should be, your favorite place to shop sweet midi dresses and a-line skirts. The vintage-inspired retailer has a quirky collection for sure, but it could be just what you need to show off your personal style.

5. Bloomingdale’s
Bloomie’s is another store that generally outprices budget fashionistas. But you can’t beat a Bloomingdale’s sale for picking up an investment coat or trouser at a discount.
This weekend, look for garments marked down an extra 30% — pop those in your cart to see the price drop. That sale ends September 5. You can also find women’s denim marked down 40% to 60% through September 9.

6. Michael Kors
Shop Michael Kors this weekend if you’re in the market for a new bag or satchel. The brand’s best-selling tote bag in pink is marked down from $348 to a very friendly $59. There are many other styles selling in the low-$100s, too.

7. Macy’s
It’s hard not to include Macy’s in any post about sales. The department store is constantly discounting something. Sometimes I wonder how they make any money at all.

Talbots, like Chico’s, caters to a more mature audience. I’m sure I fall into their target demographic, but some of the pieces can look frumpy to me. I generally scroll right past the pants and shop Talbots for sweaters and blouses.
Still, Talbots makes this list because the Labor Day sale mark-downs are as high as 70% on sale items. Regular priced styles are 25% cheaper. For those discounts, I’m willing to scroll to find the right deal.

LOFT’s Labor Day sale is all about patterned casual tops and dresses. Many of the sale items wilbe most useful with added layers or next year when the sun’s out again.
As a budget-minded lady, I expect you’re comfortable shopping off-season — particularly when you can save up to 75% off retail. The big discounts are on sale styles, but even regular-priced merch is marked down 30%.
