10 Online Clothing Stores with Free Shipping and Returns

Shopping online from home, with a drink hand, may seem like the best thing ever at the time. Until you realize the platform shoes you bought — the ones designed to look like the Eiffel Tower — aren’t as “fun” as you thought they were. This story ends well if you found those gaudy ankle-breakers on Zappos, the online shop that made free shipping and returns famous. If you bought the shoes elsewhere, well, you might be stuck with double shipping costs and a restocking fee.

Buyer’s remorse doesn’t have to cost you, though. Simply keep your shopping focused on our fav online retailers listed below — all of them offer both free shipping and free mailed returns. Before you pull out the credit card, please note two things:

  • Most stores have a minimum order value required to qualify for free U.S. shipping.
  • I update this post, but always double check the official terms before you buy.

Get free shipping and returns from these stores

Amazon: Free shipping with Prime

Amazon gets on this on a technicality. Yes, shipping on many items is free, but you must pay for an Amazon Prime membership.

Fortunately, Amazon’s return process is usually easy. For many items, you log into your account, find the order in your order history and choose the return option. From there, you’ll see the options — which can include taking your packaged item to a return point or putting the merchandise in a box with a printed label and dropping it at the UPS Store.

ASOS: Free shipping over $49.99

ASOS offers free shipping on orders of $49.99 or more. To get a return label, log into ASOS, find the order, and look for the option to print a returns label. Note that you must return your items within 28 days of the date you received the order — otherwise you will not qualify for a return and/or a refund. See ASOS returns policy here.

Clarks Shoes: Free shipping on $50+

Clarks offers free shipping as long as you spend $50 — which usually isn’t a problem with a shoe store. To qualify for a refund, return your items (unworn of course) within 60 days, either by mail or in store.

To mail your return, head to the Clarks returns portal and input your order number and shipping zip. From there, select the items you want to return and why. Clarks will then email you a shipping label and QR code. You take your package to a FedEx location and send it off, either by showing the QR code or by printing and attaching the label.

To take your return to a store, bring the product plus your packing slip and/or shipping confirmation email to a sales associate.

See Clarks return policy here.

Macy’s: Free shipping over $49 in the continental U.S.

Macy’s will give you free shipping under a few scenarios:

  • Spend $49 or more on your order
  • Become a Macy’s Star Rewards Silver or Bronze member and spend $25 or more
  • Become a Macy’s Star Rewards Platinum and Gold member and get free shipping with no minimum order

You can also return most unused items for free within 30 days of purchase, either in store or by mail. To get a return shipping label, visit Macys.com and enter your order number here. Learn more in my post detailing Macy’s return policy.

Nordstrom: Always free shipping and returns

If you live in the U.S., including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, your Nordstrom.com order ships free. You gotta love that Nordy’s has stuck to this policy over the years, right?

Even better, Nordstrom returns are free with no specified deadline. You can take your return to a Nordstrom store for free or print a label from Nordstrom.com.

To process a return, visit Nordstrom.com and print out a postage-paid label. You don’t even need an order number to generate the label. But if you don’t have an order number and Nordstrom can’t verify the order, your refund will be put on a Nordstrom gift card. Otherwise, it’ll be applied to the original form of payment.

See more details in my post about Nordstrom’s return policy here.

Sephora: Free shipping over $50

Sephora offers standard three-day shipping on U.S. merch orders over $50 — but there’s no minimum purchase requirement for Beauty Insider members.

Returns within 30 days of purchase are free and usually eligible for a full refund. You can return by mail or in store. See more details in my post outlining the Sephora return policy.

Shopbop: Always free shipping

All orders on Shopbop qualify for free standard, three-day shipping. Fun fact: You can also use your Amazon Prime membership to get free two-day shipping on Shopbop.

You can also return unwanted, unused merch to Shopbop for free within 15 days of the delivery date. Between 15 and 30 days following the delivery date, you’ll be charged a $10 label fee for the return.

To start your return, go online and find the order in your order history. See Shopbop’s return policy here.

Target: Free Shipping over $35

Your Target order of $35 or more qualifies for free three- to five-day shipping. You can sidestep the minimum purchase requirement, though, by shopping with a Target RedCard.

Most items can be returned by mail or in store for free within 90 days. To mail a return, visit Target.com, log into your account, and print a mailing label. See Target’s return policy here.

UGG: Mostly free shipping

UGG offers free standard shipping on full-priced items to the contiguous U.S. Sale items, though, do have a $10 shipping charge.

Your merch is eligible for a free return if it’s an authentic UGG product purchased from UGG.com or another authorized retailer in new condition within the last 30 days. To start your return, go here to print a return form. Your form must be placed in the box when you ship the merchandise back.

Find the UGG return policy here.

Zappos: Always free shipping

Zappos has one of the most shopper-friendly set of policies online. All orders qualify for free standard shipping. You may also qualify for expedited free shipping by using the Zappos app, being a Zappos VIP, or linking your Amazon account.

Zappos also still accepts free returns from anywhere in the U.S. for 365 days after the purchase date. The big exception is final sale items, which aren’t eligible for returns. To start a return, sign in here.

See more details about Zappos returns in my post detailing the shoe retailer’s policies here.

Stores removed from this list

Shipping and return policies have gotten increasingly tight over the last three years. Sadly, more retailers are shortening return windows, raising minimum purchase requirements, or moving away from the free to-and-fro model entirely. So — just for fun — I thought I’d keep a tally here of stores that used to be included in this free shipping and returns list, but now no longer qualify. Here they are:

  • Lulus: The trendy house now charges $1.49 restocking fee on every return. You can get away with that charge only if your original order is more than $50 and you return unwanted garments within 10 days of the delivery date.
  • Topshop: Topshop didn’t change its return policies, but the website has gone by the wayside since the brand was purchased by ASOS in 2021.
  • UrbanOutfitters: UrbanOutfitters raised its free shipping order threshold from $50 to $75 and added a $5 restocking fee for mailed returns.
  • Zara: Zara implemented a $50 minimum purchase for free shipping plus a $3.95 return fee on mailed returns.
