I love this time of the year because it means we can get dressed up for all sorts of Christmas and New Year’s parties. It’s great because we get to wear as much glitter as we want (which I tend to do anyway!) and try out some beautiful holiday hairstyles. Buns were super hot this year, and they’re definitely not losing any steam. Check out the pictures below for some tutorials and inspiration on rocking a bun to a party this holiday season.
Hair Buns Perfect for the Party Season
Do you have a holiday function after work that you don’t have time to go home and get ready for? This tousled bun is great for work and play since it’s office appropriate and still sexy.
Start with slightly dirty hair, and part you hair in the center using your fingers to comb your hair into a low ponytail. Secure it with a hair band and be sure to leave some strands free in the front to frame your face. If needed, loosen your hair and gently pull some sections out a little to give great texture like you see above. Lightly tease your ponytail to give some thickness, and twist it around the base of your ponytail. Secure with bobby pins. Smooth the front pieces and sweep them away from your face with a flat iron or leave them wispy and wavy for more texture. Don’t forget to set the look with hairspray!
This classy style is perfect for the more chic parties this season.
Begin with clean and straightened hair. Make a deep part to allow your hair to sweep to the side of your face. Gently tease the roots of your hair to add a little volume. On the opposite side of your sweeping bangs, gather your hair into a low ponytail, leaving some hair out to frame your face. Separate the ponytail into three sections. Working with one section at a time, loosely twist it and wrap it around the base of the ponytail. Pin into place with bobby pins. Repeat with the other two sections. If you have bangs, curl them with a large barreled curling iron and finish with hairspray.
