Best known for inventing the “le pouf” (ball skirt) gown, French high-end fashion designer Christian Lacroix makes use of his background in historical costume to create eccentric, extravagant, dramatic and fantasy themed designs that are considered notable in the history of fashion. After working for Hermes and Jean Patou, Lacroix collaborated with Jean Jacques Picart to launch his couture collection. In his collections Lacroix’s often pays homage to styles from different periods of history, mixing in different fabrics, bold color combinations and patterns.
