TBFers, have we got news for you. One of the biggest names in fashion is teaming up with one of the biggest names in shopping to bring all of us a little taste of the high-fashion life at a real-person price.

Karl Lagerfeld and Macy’s just announced that they’ve teamed up on a new line called “Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse Only at Macy’s” that will pop up in Macy’s stores and online from August 31st of this year. So if you’ve been coveting the gorgeous sillouhettes and dreamy fabrics Lagerfeld is so fond of using but don’t have a few thousand dollars just lying around, this is your lucky day. The Ponte Blush Dress above will retail for a paltry $99, and the Ponte and Poplin BW Dress below can be yours for just $139.

It’s no secret that we budget shoppers love designer clothes at less-than-designer prices, so this limited-time collection is like a dream come true. According to Macy’s, “The collection is a blend of refined dresses, airy tops, modern tweeds and his signature high-collared neck, priced on average from $50 to $170. A juxtaposition of color and graphic pattern create a vision of modern styling, while a tailored tuxedodress with pin tucking exemplifies eternal elegance. The color palette ranges from soft to shocking pink and grey to noir. Collectible tee-shirts and comfortable jackets mixed with crocodile print combine with chic leggings to give the collection a refreshing rock ’n’ roll edge.” Fashionistas, you know where we’ll be bright and early on August 31st.

Fashion … especially high-fashion has been my passion since my teen years. After 35 years of scrutinizing the BEST deals for LESS it’s such a relief to just walk into MACY’S and know you’re buying from the 2011 Karl Lagerfeld’s IMPULSE Limited Edition. OMG! what a genious idea.
Target has launched high-fashion designer limited edition collections as well with Zac Posen, Jean Paul Gautier, Alice Temperley – all of which I have purchased beautiful pieces – excellent way to reach a broader market!

Exactly. I love Chanel to death. I’m pretty sure his line for Macy’s is going to be in juniors only.

  • Something tells me we won’t be seeing any “dreamy fabrics” in the Macy’s line considering the price points and since it is Lagerfeld I guess we can deduce there will be no plus size styles.
