What: Oprah’s selling her clothes on March 1st. Well, some of them. After she cleans out her closet with O magazine’s creative director Adam Glassman, she’ll put 150 pieces – we can assume outdated – up for auction. And of course, unsurprisingly, she’s doing it all for charity. The event will benefit the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, a low-income school with 300 students.

What ET Online Says:

“Whether it’s your boots, whether it’s your purses that you like, I really do think that there’s something for everybody in Oprah’s closet,” says Gayle [O’s editor] of the 150 items hitting the eBay auction block starting March 1, with proceeds benefiting the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

What We Say: Remember back when Oprah set up that fashion boutique? Well, this is way cooler. We think a pair of boots that are “so last year” are so worth wearing if they used to belong to Oprah. However, we’re pretty sure we won’ t be able to afford any of it. Still, we can’t wait to take a virtual peak into her closet. Are you a big enough of fan of Oprah and fashion to be a highest bidder?

Charity is a good thing, but Oprah is out of touch. How mny of us can afford these prices and for used goods. How will we know if all the money will really go to charity. We are in a recession and the gull of her to think people want to pay these prices that most of us cant afford.

Having read the article and your book, all I can say is: You take the heels, I’ll take the flats. 8)

  • I can’t wait to see what she puts up for auction. She does have some fabulous shoes, I wonder what size shoe she wears? Hope she put up some jewelry and handbags, that will make it fun and appealing to people of all sizes.

  • I think it’s great that she’s doing this for charity. Oprah has been a blessing to so many that this isn’t a surprise at all. I won’t be bidding because I don’t think she will have anything in my size first off and secondly, as you stated, it’s probably going to be quite costly. Nonetheless, I am glad the funds will help others have a better life.
