Nordstrom Hops on the Twilight Bandwagon

What: Hot Topic famously exploited fanatical Twilight die-hards with its movie-themed merchandise. Nordstrom is now jumping on the trend and will release a line of Twilight-inspired clothing and accessories, like a $32 tee labeled “Team Edward” and a $30 “Cullen family” charm necklace. The collection will hit Nordstrom stores on October 15th (New Moon comes out in November). It will go on sale online on October 1st, however.

What The Cut Says:

Yet when the line hits stores October 15 — assuming it doesn’t sell out when the online presale begins October 1 — what was once a pleasant shopping experience in Nordstrom will undoubtedly become a treacherous survival mission, as shoppers try to avoid getting clobbered by weeping 12-year-olds with fake vampire teeth and R-Pattz’s face tattooed on their own faces.

What We Say: Can’t say we’re too shocked about this one. It’s a little unfortunate that the only thing good for the economy of late appears to be an emo vampire flick. But hey, if everyone else on Earth bought a “Team Edward” shirt, we probably would, too.

Twilight Makeup In the Works

What: We saw this coming from a mile away… DuWop, a newish cosmetics brand (you can shop for it in all major beauty stores, though), is rumored to have a Twilight makeup line in the works. DuWop is the self-proclaimed inventor of the lip plumper, and is also responsible for Robert Pattinson’s bee-stung lips, his trademark look in the teeny bopper vampire romance. We assume the line will debut along with New Moon or shortly afterward, and include a “bloodier” version of DuWop’s best-selling Lip Venom.

What We Say: Twilight seems to be one of the best things to hit the fashion world of late. We can’t imagine this will be anything more than a fad seen in the hallways of high schools and middle schools, but we do wonder if this means that everyone will try to achieve uber-plump lips that would make Angelina Jolie proud.

What are your thoughts - just plain silly, or sexy potential?
