Katie Holmes’ new short ‘do has captured all the media attention lately (and it is pretty darn cute) but we’re still sort of increasingly enamoured with her style—she seems to always hit the right balance of ease and chic. This look caught our attention mostly for the high-waisted wide-leg pant, which takes the jeans-and-t-shirt combo to the next level. We’ve put some budget pieces together so you can look this good running around town, but one note: finding a navy short sleeve cardigan on the cheap turned out to be harder than getting Suri off the bottle, so we’ve substituted classic black. If anyone has a lead on the navy cardigan for less, we’re all ears . . .

Vanessa Williams is one of those celebs we love for multiple reasons—from her ability to rise above what could have been the career kiss of death (that Miss America mess from waaaay back) to her ability to be absolutely, wickedly hilarious as Wilhelmina on Ugly Betty. She’s also regally gorgeous, a fact that is evident in this elegant yet still kinda fun ensemble. While we loved the batwing silk tunic she’s got going on here, we didn’t find an exact match, so we went instead for a slightly more casual but still head-turning outfit. Our pieces, for less:
Braided Trim V-Neck Top, clearance $34.99

Bridging dressy and casual can go horribly horribly wrong, but this look from Eva Longoria Parker hits just the right note for a summer evening event that’s not too serious, but not a cotton sundress occasion either. Oh, and it’s super sexy without showing a ridiculous amount of skin. Want it? You can have it without that Desperate Housewives salary or a basketball star husband (though either would be nice, right?). Our picks:
Executive Pencil Skirt, $24.80, Forever21.com
Plus size option: Pencil Skirt with Patent Belt (black), $44, Torrid.com
Women’s Lace Trim Cami, $9.99, Old Navy
Women’s Mossimo Vida Peep Toe Pumps, $26.99, Target

We’d never recommend using a cellphone as a weapon nor can we recommend wearing all white while digging in the garden (we’re pretty sure Naomi doesn’t do her own laundry). That being said, we love the simple fresh look Naomi Campbell sports for this photo op, which reminds us of how easy it is to look great without all the bells and whistles. And the power of a simple bright white tee. If you’re feeling it (and have a good supply of bleach at the ready), we’ve picked some pieces to help you along:
INC International Concepts Skinny Pants, on sale $33.18, Macy’s
Stretch Round Neck Tee, $4.80, Forever21
East5th “Kenna? Sandal, on sale $22.99, JC Penney
Multi-Stone Necklace, $6.99, Old Navy
Er, due to extreme overexposure, Lindsay Lohan is not our typical first choice for a look for less feature; however, having recently witnessed many, many women marking the Fourth of July holiday by dressing up as their very own version of the American flag, we zeroed in on this particular look as a way to do festive casual summer dressing without confusing people into saluting you. Horizontal stripes are still hot, and we like how she’s incorporated a couple different shades of blue (in lieu of the whole hard-to-pull-off red, white and blue combo). And yes, we realize the Fourth is past, but there’s no reason you can’t bring a little of its style inspiration into all those other summer BBQ’s on your social calendar . . . and here’s how, for less:
Women’s Striped Rib Knit Tank Top, $10.50, Navy Stripe

There’s nothing quite like a casual summer evening out, and in Hollywood, it appears there’s a go-to dress for just such an occasion . . . the tunic shirtdress. Specifically this Rag & Bone dress, which has been seen on both Cameron Diaz and Blake Lively (who has it in two colors) as they stroll around with their respective men, looking cool and fab and, well, very southern California. The part we like is that it’s virtually no-fuss, as any good SoCal look should be—throw on the dress, flats or sandals, and put your hair up. Done. The Rag & Bone dress would set you back, however, even if you could get your hands on it—we understand it’s in major sold-out mode. So here’s our version, on a budget, of course:
The Dress:
Pictured here, Calvin Klein Jeans Button Down Tunic Dress , $79.50, Macy’s
Even cheaper, but less “spot-on”, more “inspired-by” versions:

Accessorize it Cameron’s way:
Limited Edition Straw Bucket Bag, clearance $19.99, Target

Accessorize it Blake’s way:
Perez Flat, $16.80, Forever21.com

People seem to either love or hate Rachael Ray. All in all, we think she’s a smart and savvy businesswoman who’s managed to make herself a household name without being a tabloid trash queen, so we’re giving her some love. Her style has never been what we’d call stand-out (at the moment, we can’t recall a single thing she’s ever worn and for us, that’s unusual) but this look? We like—mostly because it’s a bold-but-sophisticated balance of trendy (the big belt, the colored shoes) and classic (a white button down, natch). Love it? You can get it, for less:
The Shirt: The New Bodysuit, $24, Chadwick’s (we hate coming untucked, so we’re willing to consider this fuss-free solution)
The Shoe: Mossimo Hailey Knotted Strap Heels, $19.99, Target
The Skirt: Conrad C Collection Voile Skirt, on sale $51.90, Nordstrom
The Belt: Wide Patent Belt, on sale $10, Newport News

Blame Angelina Jolie. It seems like ever since she made it big in Hollywood, a full, pillowy pucker – like the one she just happened to be genetically blessed with – has become de rigueur. For a while there the only way to score gorgeous lips like Jolie’s was to pay a visit to the cosmetic surgeon, and risk ending up with a totally unsexy case of trout-pout.
Luckily for those of us not willing to go under the needle, the cosmetic scientists at LipFusion crafted a lipgloss that promises to amp up your kisser gently and safely, through the use of collagen microspheres that encourage minor, temporary swelling of lip tissues. While it’s practically a bargain compared to the cost of actual lip injections, the $38 price point of LipFusion Color Shine does sting a little (even if the gloss itself doesn’t!)
Enter our new best friend. Rimmel London’s new Volume Booster lipgloss is a bonafide bargain at only $6.99 (at drugstore.com). Available in 9 shades – our vote is for Attract, a shimmery pink-y nude that looks great on almost everyone – it promises to deliver up to 40% fuller lips through use of collagen technology, similar to that found in LipFusion. Great shine at a great price – it’s guaranteed to give you that warm, tingly feeling all over. (And why should lips have all the fun?)
