What: Katie Holmes has been dropping hints about her designing ambitions for a while now; her and stylist Jeanne Yang collaborated on some individual pieces in the past, but the pair hasn’t had the guts to take it to the next, more professional level. In the latest issue of Glamour Magazine, though, Katie finally admits to working on a girls’ clothing line, inspired by her own little girl, Suri.
What Katie Says:
“Jeanne Yang and I have been working together. We started about a year ago, sketching different things, trying to find comfortable clothing for our daughters that is also pretty and cute… We both grew up with mothers who sewed.”
What We Say: We like that Katie’s been hush hush about her designing efforts because it seems humble of her, and for some reason, we’re just not totally annoyed by this most recent celeb/fashion combo. Katie’s taking cues from her and Tom’s adorable daughter, little Suri. Because no one’s giving out any concrete information about when and where the line would launch, we’re guessing Katie and Yang are still a bit unfocused, or perhaps nervous about stepping into the unstable retail industry.
We say, avoid the upscale boutiques and take your line to WalMart or better yet, Children’s Place.
