Entertaining on a Budget: Let your New Year shine

Add some shine to your New Year’s Eve party with silver accents. Silver coupled with candles reflects light and adds shimmer, so a little goes a long way. Hostess with the Mostess has some great budget-friendly ideas for creating a spectacular table in silver. Not only does setting your table in silver add pizazz to your party, but it’s a great way to recycle Christmas decorations and capitalize on the after-Christmas sales. Here are some additional tips for creating a fabulous silver table:

Cut pieces of tin foil into a circle and place round silver candles on top. You can find silver candles at your local dollar store for, you guessed it, $1.
Silver is an easy color to match with, so look around your house for items that will accent your theme: everyday silverware, tin foil, a metal tray, the sky’s the limit. Place these items front and center and use them to display hors d’oeuvres.

Target has silver snowflake ornaments in a tube, 12 for $6. Place a snowflake at each guests place for a fun and inexpensive party favor.
If you run out of silver you can use white to accent.

White is versatile and blends easily with silver. Use white pillar candles and linen’s to round out your look, with out having to spend more money.

Make a wreath out of inexpensive silver ornaments and place it in the center of your table with pillar candles inside. Go here for a how-to.
