Anna Sui for Target Apparel Collection

September 19, 2009 08:25 AM | Comments (1) | Posted in target, anna sui, Target, go international

What: Finally! The Anna Sui for Target collection is here. The much-talked-about line - (infamously) inspired by the CW’s “Gossip Girl” - has hit stores, on and off line. And we’re looking forward to checking it out. Pieces include a $19.99 pair of leggings, $44.99 empire dress, and $34.99 plaid crop pants. If you want in on the action, you’ve gotta make up your mind about what to buy by October 17th - the Anna Sui/Target collection will only be around for a limited time.

What We Say: We’re bummed that most the line costs over $30, but we think it will be a refreshing and edgy addition to Target.

Anyone tried on/bought items from the collection yet? Is it worth the hype?

Rodarte Teams with Target for Holiday Line

Rodarte Partners with Target

What: Kate and Laura Mulleavy—the sisters behind the high-end fashion brand Rodarte—are teaming up with Target as part of the company’s Go International designer collections. The 55-piece collection, which is set to include holiday dresses, jackets, and a myriad of pieces perfect for layering, is set to debut at Target stores nationwide and online on December 20th, with prices ranging from $9.99 to $79.99.

What They Say:
“What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.”

What We Say: Even though it seems like Target has partnered with nearly every designer on their Go International series, we’re interested in seeing how the store translates Rodarte high-end designs for the masses.

Tracy Feith at Target: It’s All About Target Today

tracy feith target

Designer Tracy Feith’s new collection for Target is coming out soon and based upon our first peak, it’s the most fashion forward surf line I’ve ever seen. I’m loving the seventies vibe (especially the strapless, Flowerpower/Tiki dress) and the strong colors. Plus, there is not a flip-flop to be seen (hallelujah!).

From the press release: Tracy Feith for Target collection offers flowing frocks and easy silhouettes that are utterly chic for the summer season, from $14.99 to $139.99. Feith uses original, bohemian-inspired prints and a rainbow of colors to accentuate unique yet sophisticated women, like that of fan Michelle Obama.  The collection is filled with mix-and-match printed swim separates and vintage beach-inspired basics which accentuate Feith’s barefoot-luxury aesthetic.  Flower power and crazy daisy prints are reminiscent of 70s surf life, highlighted by bark cloth and linen textures and cropped cut jackets in canvas and genuine leather.

Total Side Note: While I love both Target and Mrs. O like I love my Snuggie or cupcakes from Crumbs Bakery, can we can please stop tying every fashion moment to our first lady? Yeah, she has great style, but Feith’s clothing are stylish and forward enough to stand on their own.

Tracy Feith Tapped for Target GO International Line

January 8, 2009 11:00 AM | Comments (2) | Posted in target, Target, go international, tracy feith

More news from Target’s GO International front (does it ever end?): Tracy Feith will be the next designer tapped to create a collection for the revolving-door line. If Feith is true to his signature look, think flowy, sexy, boho dresses in sun-and-surf-ready prints. It’s not exactly officewear, but by summer, we’ll be soooo ready for a little vaca anyway . . .

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the line will feature “about 60 styles and 15 original prints,” and is set to launch May 15 at most Target stores as well as online at Target.com.

Thakoon for Target: Mrs. O Would Approve

Thankoon

You know we love us some Michelle Obama style (check out Kathryn’s budget style retrospective on Mrs. O) so we’re all about a first look at budget-friendly pieces from one of her favorite designers, Thakoon, who’s bringing his bold prints and modern lines to Target’s GO International line at the end of the year. If you’re a Thakoon fan like Obama, this resort-focused collection doesn’t disappoint—strong floral and stripe patterns, bold color, and easy to wear silhouettes (including feminine full skirts, which we kinda love).
The line will hit the stores Dec. 28, and will only be available ‘til Jan. 31, so if you love it, you’ll want to tuck away a few dollars now to treat yourself after the holiday shopping madness has passed . . .

Jonathan Saunders Available in Target Now

What: Jonathan Saunders’ GO International Collection, now available at Target

What We Say: In September we gave you a first look at the Jonathan Saunders GO International line at Target, and now the collection is available to shoppers. We’ve done a little online perusing, and found the offerings to be more wearer-friendly than we’d originally thought (our “first look” looks were kind of ultra-mod), with sweaters, jackets, skirts, tops, belts, dresses, you name it, in fun colors and generally some really versatile styles. The sweater dresses are what caught our eye first, especially this super cute sleeveless sweater dress in cilantro, for only $34.99, and this tunic sweater in ebony/eternal flame for $29.99.  For something that’s a little more designer-standout? This colorblock tunic for $17.99.

What to Buy Fall 2008: Target

September 5, 2008 04:00 PM | Comments (2) | Posted in isaac mizrahi, mossimo, what_to_buy, go international, angie & lola, fall fashion 2008, richard_chai

You know we love us some Target, and this fall is no exception. From Richard Chai, the GO International line, to some new Isaac Mizrahi, to hot shoes and handbags, we’re feeling a shopping spree coming on. Within our budget, of course. Some Target picks for the season:

GO International School Boy Blazer, Red Plaid, $39.99

Mossimo Black Satin Trench, Berry, $39.99

Isaac Mizrahi for Target Mock Turtleneck Dress, $34.99

MB Drapery Cardigan, $24.99

Isaac Mizrahi for Target Amelia Patent T-Strap Pumps, $29.99

Angie & Lola Bucket Tote, Brown, $39.99

Hayden-Harnett to Design Limited Edition Handbag Line for Target

August 14, 2008 04:00 PM | Comments (0) | Posted in designer, handbag, go international, thakoon, hayden-harnett

What: Designers Toni Hacker and Ben Harnett will launch a limited-edition handbag collection, Hayden-Harnett for Target, due to appear in stores Dec. 28.

What We Say: There’s been a flurry of activity this week at Tar-jey; after yesterday’s announcement that Thakoon will design the next Go International line for the retailer, now we know that on the handbag front, Toni Hacker and Ben Harnett are the next up in Target’s series of limited-edition designer handbag collections. No images or samples are yet available, so we’re not sure what the collection is shaping up like, but if you take a peek at the Hayden-Harnett website, you’ll get a feel for what they do. For us, their high-end bags are beautiful but quite honestly not so much different in styling than what we already see at Target (big metallic satchels and totes, chain and fringe detail). Which could mean that either their bags will fit in perfectly with the Target shoppers’ sensibility, or they might not stand out from current offerings at all. We’ll keep you posted . . .

Thakoon: Next Up From Target’s Go International Line

August 13, 2008 05:00 PM | Comments (1) | Posted in designer, go international, thakoon

What: Thakoon is the next designer to team with Target for their Go International designer line, with clothes to hit stores in December.

What We Say: This isn’t Thakoon’s first foray into budget fashion (he worked with Gap on a white shirt project not long ago), but we’re glad he’s decided to expand his horizons into our local Target. The designer (full name: Thakoon Panichgul) is know for bold prints and vintage-inspired but modern designs, and his Fall RTW collection was full of plaids, florals, and sleek feminine shapes. We can only hope he can bring some of that sophisticated but wearable sensibility into the hit-or-miss Go International line.

News Alert: GO International Fall Collection Preview

July 29, 2008 01:00 PM | Comments (1) | Posted in plaid, go international, news_alert, fall_preview

What: The next installment of the GO International collection launches on August 31, just in time for the fall. Prices range from $16.99 to $39.99.

What We Say: Vintage romance seems to be the keywords in this collection. The patterns in this collection, like checkers and houndstooth, hearken back to to the past, while the painterly prints are modern and trendy. Pieces like vests, sweater coats, ruffle blouses all have a retro feel. We especially like the risk taken with the corduroy dress, a fabric we don’t see too often. Some of these looks could’ve been seen on the streets of 1960’s London. We’ve chosen our favorite looks and compiled them above, but there are much more to mix and match.

We like The bottom right outfit—it looks like a two-tone dress, but it’s actually two pieces—the shirt is a funnel necked top ($22.99) and the skirt is black and white plaid ($26.99). Which one is your favorite look?

New Pics: Proenza Schouler at Target

December 19, 2006 10:10 PM | Comments (21) | Posted in target, Target, go international, proenza schouler, Target Go International, Proenza Schouler, target go international

I’m not sure if it’s the styling, the models, or the clothes themselves, but I don’t think Proenza Schouler at Target is going to do very well. Their clothing for the Go International line, with exception of the picture above,  looks NOTHING like their Spring 2007 runway collection. At least Behnaz’s Target line stayed very true to her higher priced collections. PS’s line looks more like Benetton meets Polo Ralph Lauren, than their normal dark, funky, causal vibe.
Regardless.. I’m still going to buy that pink coat shown above and those yellow pumps which are HOT.

Fashion News: Proenza Schouler Spring 2007 Line at Target?

The rumor mill is at it again . . . WWD scoop is speculating that Proenza Schouler—Vogue poster boys, designers with the name no one knows how to pronounce (I dare you to try and say their name 3 times really fast), celeb favorite—might premiere a line for Target’s Go International project sometime next spring. Nothing has been confirmed, but I’ll keep you posted . . .

Next at Target’s Go International: Behnaz Sarafpour

July 28, 2006 04:39 AM | Comments (4) | Posted in fashion, vogue, go international, behnaz sarafpour

With the launch of the Paul & Joe line set for next week, Target has already announced the next designer on deck for its Go International line. Socialite fave and Vogue darling, Behnaz Sarafpour, will design a collection of tops, bottoms, dresses, and more for the mass market giant.

Sarafpour is one of my favorite new designers and sheer marketing genius—she got Tiffany’s & Co. to sponsor and host her fall 2005 fashion show, got Hewlett Packard to sponsor fall 2006’s show and now has the hook up with Target.  Her style is very Karl Lagerfeld- Chanel with a bit of Marc Jacobs’ downtown vibe thrown in. She’s also a big fan of black and white. Sarafpour’s line will appear starting this November and last for 90 days.

Tara Jarmon Lands at Target

May 1, 2006 01:36 PM | Comments (0) | Posted in designer, handbag, go international, luella, tara_jarmon, fendi, bazaar magazine

Canadian born/French bred designer Tara Jarmon has officially landed at Target as the second designer in it’s Go International design series. Like the Luella at Target line, Jarmon’s line is full of colorful accessories, skinny jeans, and mini skirts and like the Luella line everything is cut for junior sizes. However, there are a few stand out pieces, like the floral printed trench above, $39.99,  which would add a little color to an all white ensemble. Her multi-colored stripped canvas bag has a strong resemblance to a Fendi bag featured in this month’s Bazaar Magazine, except it’s about $2000 less.

Items aren’t quite available in stores, but pieces are available for pre-order online at Target.com

Hot Scoop: Canadian Designer Tara Jarmon at Target

March 9, 2006 07:01 AM | Comments (1) | Posted in designer, isaac mizrahi, go international, tara_jarmon, luella bartley

A Budget Fashionista exclusive: The next designer to hit Target as a part of its Go:International efforts is Canadian designer Tara Jarmon.  Jarmon, who is not as well-known as Target’s first GO designer, brit Luella Bartley, is the darling of the “well heeled” European jet set, with clothes that are stylish, comfortable, and quite wearable.  Think Target’s current Isaac Mizrahi line punched up for the ladies who lunch. The line by Jarmon will replace the current line by Bartley in May.

(thanks to informant t-love for the scoop).

British Designer Luella Bartley to Design a Line at Target

January 20, 2006 01:45 PM | Comments (3) | Posted in go international, luella bartley

In a move that would have made Sam Walton green with envy, Target is positioning itself to compete directly with H&M, by launching it’s own Couture-meets-Cosco effort, called GO International. GO International features select international designers whose collection premiers at Target for only 90 days and once it’s gone, it’s gone. The first designer up to bat is British phenom Luella Bartley, who is best known stateside for those really expensive bags with the heart pendants. No date has been set for the launch, but you can sign up for email alerts at Target.com
