Q:Budget Fashionista,

I need your help. I’m a 5″1”, 110 lbs, 23-year-old female and I find it very difficult to shop for office clothes. It seems like there are very few fashion options for petite women. Any petite fashion advice?

A: I’ve been getting quite a few questions from petite readers in regards to the sad state of petite fashion. I agree that there’s little, to no, options for truly petite women.

Dry Cleaning Symbols

I don’t get those little washing care symbols they put on the other side of clothing tags. There’s too much for me already to remember, the last thing I need is to learn a completely different language just to wash a pair of underwear.

Guide to Common Household and Drycleaning Symbols

However, knowing how to take care of ones clothing is as important as knowing how (and where) to purchase the clothes. I still have nightmares of the time my dad destroyed my favorite (and only) pair of Girbaud jeans during a bleach induced washing frenzy. Unfortunately, there was no internet back then or I would have printed out this handy little Guide to Common Household and Drycleaning Symbolsand posted it in our laundry room. The guide gives a straight forward run down of common cleaning symbols and the meaning of each symbol.

Mother of the Bride Dress

Dear Budget Fashionista:

I am a stylish soon to be mother-of-the-bride. I have been searching for something stylish, but all the dresses I’ve seen are for unfashionable ! What are some tips to help me find a hip mother of the bride dress without spending a fortune?

Answer:
Just because your kid is getting married, that doesn’t mean you need to look like Whistler’s Mother (you know the famous painting of the mom in the rocking chair). You can and should be as fashionable as you can be- you will be seeing folks that you haven’t seen in years (including that one annoying cousin), so we put together a several mother of the bride options for the big day.
