May 31, 2011 by TBFTBF on May 31, 2011

Scarf Turban Fashion Trend

What: The scarf has emerged as the unlikely diva of the spring and summer season as variations of this once-ignored wardrobe item continue to proliferate the fashion world.

What NYTimes says: For so long, fashion was about the “it” bag and the “it” shoe. But as Katherine Danneberg, the divisional merchandise manager for shoes and accessories at Anthropologie, said, “It’s definitely about an ‘it’ scarf now.” Or, more precisely, a flurry of “it” scarves, some boasting labels like Missoni, Etro, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen. April 23, 2011 by SuzannaSuzanna on April 23, 2011

 Spring and Summer Collections

What: TBF attended Accessorize’s media event celebrating their Spring/Summer collections.

From Accessorize’s With its own in-house design team, Accessorize holds a unique position on the high street with its inspirational, globally sourced, well-priced and good quality collection of fashion accessories. Displayed in an original and impactful colour-bay design, the constantly changing range includes every kind of accessory imaginable; bags, purses, jewelery, belts, hats, scarves, flip flops, gloves, hair accessories and cosmetics.

Accessorize opened its first USA store in May 2010, and now operate in New York, Washington DC & Virginia.

What We Say: Think Claire’s but add in a bit of sophistication and some more innovation. Now age the customer a bit and you’ve got Accessorize. This is a store we wouldn’t necessarily go into upon passing, but once we were inside, we didn’t want to leave. And because Accessorize is originally from the UK, it has a great British flair to that you don’t tend to see here in similar accessory-heavy stores.

Spring 2011 Accessories

Phew. Not that we didn’t love the heavy hardware designers have had us lugging around, but we are more than happy to trade our studded bags and spiked shoes for something lighter and brighter. If you want to capture attention this season, bold colors are the way to do it. Altogether, this spring’s accessories are a lot like spring itself: fun, easy and down-to-earth. Here are the top five looks to put on your shopping list.

1. Something woven
Braiding, knitting and weaving create statement-making textures that are extremely wearable throughout the warm-weather months. Whether in earthy tones or bright hues, if your bag, hat or shoes look like you picked them up from a sidewalk vendor on a South American vacation, you’ve hit this trend spot on.
