Eva Longoria Parker has had some hits and some sure-fire misses, but we straight out adore her dress from the Critic’s Choice Awards. We especially love that it’s not something only teeny tiny Eva could pull off - the banded waistline hides any sort of pooch. Although our alternative doesn’t sport the beautiful jeweled belt, it’s got plenty of room for you to breathe. And we actually think it’ll do more justice to your legs than the original.
We’re guessing Eva spent upwards of $1,000 on her version, so we found a version for the tax-refund-busting amount of $390 (yeah, we know, not cheapest, but if you’re a Hollywood celeb $400 bucks is what you spend on non-fat soy lattes each month)
Here’s how to get the look for, hmm, less:
The Dress: Sue Wong Jeweled Bubble Dress from Neiman Marcus, $390
The Shoes: Patent Pumps from Charlotte Russe, $22.99
The Purse: Heritage Canvas Soft Clutch from Liz Claiborne, $24.99
We’ve spotted the distinctive colors and print of the proud bird on the streets, in stores, and on a beautiful dress Eva Longoria wore to the Cannes Film Festival a few months ago. The peacock print never fails to add pizazz to any outfit, whether it’s in a bold dress like Eva wore or in a pair of earrings . The peacock is a notoriously arrogant bird, but who wouldn’t be with such a naturally beautiful outfit? Since we’ll never be able to flaunt peacock feathers every day, we’re happy to try the trend out in our clothes and accessories. Make sure you don’t over-do it though—limit yourself to one peacock piece per ensemble.
Peacock feather earrings, fredflare.com, $14. Put on these and you won’t need any other accessories.
Peacock print trapeze dress, Avenue.com, $34.00. This print is a bit more subtle, but the pattern of the peacock feather is evident.
Peacock fedora, $19.50, alloy.com. If you’re a snazzy dresser who likes hats, experiment with this one.
Peacock rainboots, $60.00, piperlime.com. These boots won’t fail to bring a smile to your face during a gloomy, wet day.
Peacock feather pendant, $60.00, shopbop.com. This pendant is a subtle way to flaunt your feathers.
Peacock feather women’s tank top, cafepress.com, $18.69. This simple white tank is fresh and fun.
Bridging dressy and casual can go horribly horribly wrong, but this look from Eva Longoria Parker hits just the right note for a summer evening event that’s not too serious, but not a cotton sundress occasion either. Oh, and it’s super sexy without showing a ridiculous amount of skin. Want it? You can have it without that Desperate Housewives salary or a basketball star husband (though either would be nice, right?). Our picks:
Executive Pencil Skirt, $24.80, Forever21.com
Plus size option: Pencil Skirt with Patent Belt (black), $44, Torrid.com
Women’s Lace Trim Cami, $9.99, Old Navy
Women’s Mossimo Vida Peep Toe Pumps, $26.99, Target
SR Squared by Sonda Roberts Straw Clutch, $30, Endless.com
Austrian Crystal Stretch Bracelet, on sale $11.99, JC Penney

There’s a new trend sweeping the red carpets of our favorite award shows.. No it’s not bad make-up or ill-fitting dresses (which were present, in full force, at yesterday’s Emmy awards). It’s not bad plastic surgery (Joan Rivers and her spawn no longer work the red carpet).
No, the trend hitting the red carpet is the short dress. Eva Longoria, who I think wore it best, shows that a short, cocktail dress there’s other options for black tie occasions. Personally, this is a trend I love because cocktail dresses tend to be significantly cheaper and less “Cinderella” than a full length ball gown.
So what do you think?
