The Deal: Save at eDressme.com’s First Lady Sale with select items up to 80% Off at eDressMe.com
The Lowdown: We love a fashionable first lady (we’re still doing a happy dance over Michelle O.‘s arrival in the White House) and so are totally happy to take any opportunity to honor the post with, well, saving money. We also kinda dig the idea of a First Lady sale, too, because those presidents get all the attention anyway.
Our suggestion? Celebrate with something fashion forward and colorful (maybe it’s just us, but we’re soooo over the chic-but-dreary winter grays). This flutter sleeve basketweave chiffon dress by Anna Sui, for example, is on sale for just $99 and will totally transition into spring, as will this watercolor ruffle dress , also by Anna Sui and also 99 bucks. And before you call us on it, we realize sizes are very limited, but at these prices—just take a look.

The Deal: Get 15% off Valentine’s Day dresses at eDressMe.com
The Lowdown: We know it’s so cliche, but what better excuse to wear a red dress than Valentine’s Day? Being practical girls, we usually opine over the usefulness of The Little Black Dress , but there are times when it’s okay to just throw caution to the wind. But only if you can do it at a discount (we’re never so reckless as to pay full price, you know). So with 15% off Valentine’s dresses at eDressme.com, we figured it’s worth a look. To be honest, most of what we found are still outside our price range, but we did manage to pick two that could help heat up your holiday without breaking the bank (and one that’s not cheap, but fab nonetheless):
Steal: Sequined Halter Dress by Khaki Krew, $82.45
Deal: Strapless Red Sequins Dress by Scala, $134.30
Splurge: And yes, we know this one is out of a traditional “budget” range, but if you have the cash to splurge and want something chic (and designer) you can wear again and again, we kinda fell in love with this Red Cocktail Dress by Marc Bouwer Glamit —for $421, on sale (we told you it wasn’t cheap).

The Deal: Take 15% off holiday dresses under $99 at eDressMe.com
The Lowdown: After a frazzling holiday season, the last thing we really feel like thinking about is getting outfitted for New Year’s Eve (can’t we just put our feet up for a minute?). Still, we like to be prepared and eDressme.com is one of our go-to options—going directly, that is, to the under $99 dress section (because the rest of the offerings—in the $200-$400 range—don’t even make it onto our budget radar).
The Under $99 selection isn’t vast but it’s probably not much smaller than, say, the formal dress department at your local Penney’s (and in general, way cuter). And since many of our fellow fashionistas have told us that they think eDressme’s dresses are just too bare (Um, lots of us share those upper arm issues. We hear you.) we’ve zeroed in on this short black dress with embellished neck —and actual sleeves!—for $76.50.

The Deal: Free shipping from eDressme.com
The Lowdown: Get your ideal party dress—remember, New Year’s Eve is just around the corner—and have it shipped to your doorstep for nada. We always check out eDressme.com’s dresses for under $99—like this Gorgeous Twisted Bodice Dresses, for just $92.

The Deal: Black Friday only: $99 Designer long gowns at eDressMe.com
The Lowdown: Haven’t had the opportunity to add a formal designer gown to your wardrobe? Yeah, that goes for most of us—but there’s no reason to not own one for just $99 at eDressme.com, on Black Friday only. Pick up a classic like this evening gown by Gilar, and then use some holiday magic to conjure up someplace to wear it.

The Deal: Take 15% off Designer Coats at eDressMe.com through Oct. 29.
The Lowdown: Shop now for designer outerwear at eDressme.com, and get 15% off, just in time for the cool fall weather to really settle in. Are they coats cheap? Um, no—they’re designer, and you do pay for the name, even with 20% off. If you are a designer-devotee, however, a sale is the best way to get it. The most budget deal, however? This Drop Waist Lightweight Coat from the eDressme collection, on sale for $50.

The Deal: Shop the eDressMe sale for designer dresses 50% to 80% off
The Lowdown: eDress me is a great source of trendy dresses for special ocassions (even prom) or for just going out (we especially enjoy their “Dresses Under $99” section). Right now, get 50-80% off something like this Yacht Club dress by Kiyonna, originally $142 but on sale for $114—and there’s lots more to choose from.

What: The latest thing in fashion embellishment—fringes.
What We Say: We thought maybe it was just us, but we’ve definitely noticed a significant increase in fringing lately, on everything from shoes to handbags to dresses . . . and as long as they’re not on the sleeves of a cropped purple suede jacket with giant shoulder pads, we figure they might be okay to try out. With the Roaring 20s being touted as the next big decade for fashion inspiration (more on that later) we’re kind of partial to a fringy dress (and especially after seeing it on So You Think You Can Dance’s Cat Deeley on the show’s finale—so cute). As with all embellishment trends, moderation is key. If you love it, pick one piece to have fun with and stash the rest of your cash for a rainy day.

What: Our blog, The Budget Ecoist, teaches us how to live a green life on a budget. eDressme.com helps fashionistas like that stretch our desire to be eco-friendly with fashionable, pretty and bio-degradable dresses.
What We Say: Expand your wardrobe and infuse a social conscience into your wardrobe. You might’ve thought “organic” just referred to food—we admit we’re still learning, too. We like the idea that our clothes could potentially help the environment. Wearing these dresses is practically the same as recycling your glass, plastics and metals. Just stylishly.
This white cotton mini dress by Trinity is only $69.00. We like the keyhole in the back, pleats at the hem, and of course, it’s 100% cotton.
The Catalina strapless dress by Zen-Knits features an interwoven waist, a bow in the back, and best of all, a bright and cheery orangey red. Now $85.00.
Do you like to shop eco-friendly? Did you know there was such a thing as a biodegradable dress?
Since spring, dresses have been back with a white hot vengeance, which we’re still totally happy about. But here’s the hitch—dresses are the kind of item that, since you can’t mix and match to change it up too much, are somewhat limited in terms of cost-effectiveness. This doesn’t mean don’t buy ‘em—it just means shop with care (always good advice anyway). We have our favorite sources—eDressme.com, for example, always has a nice selection of $99 and under dresses for party situations, and believe it or not, Chadwick’s seems to be stepping up its dress game, with more-stylish-than-expected dresses for prices we can live with (like this divine shawl-collar wrap dress, on sale for $49.99). But, TBF readers, where do you pick up fab dresses for less? Do you have favorite sources for specialty size dresses (petite, plus size)? Give us the scoop . . .
Hear that? It’s the sound of millions of girls in a prom-preparation frenzy. Being that many of them will be operating on a budget, they’ll need a little direction. We don’t always want to be the ones doing the talking—sure, we can tell you what sources we like for prom dresses on a budget (eDressMe.com’s dresses under $99, great sales at Macy’s) but we think you probably have some great tips too. So help the girls out—what are your picks for best source for a fabulous prom dress on the cheap?
