OneWorld Apparel Levis Line

OneWorld Apparel’s inspired and sophisticated tops have always been denim-friendly, and in fall 2009, you’ll see them on on the sales rack at your favorite department stores, right next to those Levi jeans.

The new OneWorld/Levi’s line of tops will focus on petites, misses, and plus-size women, and give their denim counterparts a fashion-savvy, modern look. Think classy and contemporary—the down-to-earth girl on the go who hasn’t forgotten her sense of style.

You’ve probably seen OneWorld Tops at Dillard’s and Macy’s, but with this new Levi’s licensing agreement, you should see them pop up in even more stores. Can’t wait.

Christina Aguilera at Topshop

What: Christina Aguilera is rumored to be developing a budget friendly fashion line for the British fast fashion store, TopShop.

What They Say: From Refinery29: Here’s one we didn’t see coming—rumors are circulating that platinum-blonde, pop-princess, Christina Aguilera is to design a range for British retailer Topshop (and she’ll get a reported 4 million pounds for it, too).

What We Say: We told you that celebrities will be clamoring to develop budget lines in 2009 (well MOST celebrities, Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Duff Piddy was EVERYWHERE this holiday season pushing his high price vodka and men’s cologne). However, while we think Xtina is an awesome singer, her fashion choices have not always been on point- Remember that wig she wore to an award show a few years back?

Britney Spears in Ben Sherman from Amazon.com

Sometimes Britney Spears looks as though she spent a whopping $1.98 on her outfits, but not in the best “budget fashionista” sense, if you know what we mean. However, Britney’s been pulling it together these days, and interestingly, though this Ben Sherman Chinchester Swing Coat truly IS budget, she looks more chic and sophisticated than we’ve seen her in awhile. This is one Britney look you’ll actually want to emulate, and you can—the coat is available on Amazon.com for just $139.50 (originally $279), and qualifies for free shipping too!

Kitten Heels for the Holidays: Thanks Michelle Obama!

“SOME PRODUCTS ARE NO LONGER BEING SOLD”

Since Michelle Obama’s been rockin’ the kitten heel (and especially since she paired them with that Narciso Rodriguez dress back on election day) we’ve noticed versions popping up at some of our favorite retailers, and we’re going to go ahead and give them our endoresment here and now. The kitten heel is the “moderate” of the fashion world—dressier than a flat, more wearer-friendly than a full-out pump. And for tall girls (Obama is 5’ 11” - just an inch taller than Kathryn) they’re a great way to don some sexy heels without towering over EVERYONE else in the room at the office or all those holiday soirees. Right now, we’re salivating over these Mossimo Virginia Ruffle Pumps from Target, $26.99, and these lace pumps from Newport News are the perfect holiday kitten heel, on sale for $29.

Zac Posen Poised to Tap Budget Fashion Market?

December 14, 2008 12:59 PM | Comments (1) | Posted in budget fashion, zac posen, daily holla, diffusion line

Fact: Mass market and budget lines are the only things making money right now

Could it be? Rumors have it that Zac Posen will be entering the world of budget-friendly fashion with a diffusion line, in an effort to make some money. According to Fashion Week Daily, Posen says, “We’ve been in the process of building our lower priced collections.”

Hmmm. Vague, but he’s got our attention. First up, however, is a fragrance that’s in development with Fabien Baron (the creative force currently working on the redesign of Interview, he’ll design the bottle). After that, we’ll see how truly budget his “lower priced collections” really turn out to be . . .

Doo.Ri “Budget” Diffusion Line on the Way

December 13, 2008 01:00 PM | Comments (0) | Posted in discount designer, daily holla, doo.ri

Doo.Ri is one of those designers we hadn’t necessarily thought of in terms of budget, but we guess everyone’s looking for ways to diversify these days. A Doo.Ri “diffusion” line is in the works, it seems, to be launched next year, under a name that’s not yet been decided.

According to Women’s Wear Daily , we can expect the designer (full name: Doo-Ri Chung) to give us some of her signature elements—jersey, draping, feminine silhouettes—at more consumer-friendly prices. Still, as far as the budget aspect goes, we’re not sure it truly falls into that category—prices will start at $80, and range to up to $475. Okay, so maybe it’s budget for designer stuff, but $80 for a top? It’ll have to be pretty special for us to shell out that kind of cash.
