The Deal: All Sale Items 50% Off at CharlotteRusse.com
The Lowdown: It’s been a while since we’ve seen much in the way of sales at Charlotte Russe, but since the prices are really reasonable, we don’t usually complain too much. Still, we’re always happy to save more (particularly when we know the quality isn’t exactly job one), so half off sale items sounds good to us.
Fit can be an issue at Charlotte Russe (and of course their range of sizes is woefully limited), we’d avoid the pants—but for the top half, we found some items that will actually work both now and into the next season like this bold color patch dress, $14.49. And looking ahead on the footwear front, we’re thinking a pair of, oh, purple python stilettos might just be the perfect way to bridge the seasons—seriously, why not?—for just $11.49 (assuming you can navigate safely through all those pesky thaw puddles).

What: Jordache Runway Show, Metropolitan Pavilion, New York City Fashion Week, Spring 2009
The Lowdown: Color and frivolity were the keys to this collection, and the crowd was loving it. While Jordache has lost some of its popularity over the decades, they honored their legacy by clothing each model in a pair of their iconic-label jeans. Washes ranged from very dark to old-school blue to bleach white, and they were all skinny and tight. The high-waisted jean was just one aspect of the retro mood of the collection. Tie-dye, metallic body suits, short shorts, jumpers and a model who flashed the Peace sign all evoked the mood of the seventies. Jordache’s emblem, the horse, was emblazoned in Swarovski crystals across several off-the-shoulder shirts which were paired with the skinny jean of 2008. The hot pink, purple, silver, gold, cyan, and fuchsia colors put the crowd in a flower power mood. We weren’t in love with the back pocket embellishments nor the tiny metallic body suits, but this collection pleased us greatly. Unlike many other shows this week, accessories were plentiful—long, silver chain necklaces, pocket chains and a few cuff bracelets accented the clothing.
Budget Solution: Our favorite budget store when we want to look bohemian and laidback? Urban Outfitters. This loose-fitting fuchsia racerback tank would look at home in the seventies, while this high-waisted jean hearkens back to an era when low-rise denim did not exist. If you’d like to pump up your outfit with just a bit of tie-dye, consider this tie-dye scarf from Charlotte Russe. The jumpers in the collection were a bit iffy, but never say never—here’s one from Forever 21 that fits our budgets nicely.

What: Not ready to get back to black? Navy is another great neutral that’s not too heavy for the hottest part of summer . . .
The Lowdown: Black will be hot this fall, but it’s still, well, hot, so summer is by no means over. An alternative neutral? We’re all about the navy—it’s summery (think nautical), classic, and easy to match. No, really—pair it with other neutrals (white, khaki, gray) or muted metallics (which are, of course, the new neutrals), and then pump your look up with some bold colored accessories (think red or yellow, chunky beads or enamel pieces, for maximum impact).
Buy It: Here are some versatile navy pieces we love, on a budget:
Women’s Leather Slingback Jute Wedges, $34.50, Old Navy
Isaac Mizrahi for Target Pleated Wrap Dress, $27.99 on clearance, Target
Wide Leg Pants, $39.99, Chadwicks
Navy Cotton Spandex Blend Cami (Plus Size), on sale for $12, Torrid.com

What We Say: We love generous discounts such as this one. We depend on Charlotte Russe for fun and bold statements in their tops, shoes, bottoms, dresses, and more. All were affordable before this sale, and now the prices are almost gratuitously low. Here, we’ve compiled some sale items into an outfit:
This rhinestone top is cute and the sparkles are subtle, not tacky. $19.99.
The Hydraulic Premium Denim Metro Bermuda Shorts are a perfect balance to the sexy top. Okay, they weren’t part of the sale, but at $29.99, they’re still well within our price range.
Pictured: These colorblock pumps are chic and sexy. We love subtle details like the faux crocodile toe, it’s different. $22.99.
The Deal: Charlotte Russe is offering free standard shipping until June 30.
What We Say: Yay! One of our favorite stores is enticing us once again, and we just might bite. Their clothes and jewelry are always fun and in style, so head there ASAP to find your 4th of July outfit. It’s coming up soon.
Here’s what we’d choose to wear to an Independence Day barbecue:
The plaid dress above. It’s not tacky to wear 4th of July colors as long as you look good doing it. $24.99.
Strappy wedges with a wooden heel—white ones, of course. $22.99.
Balance the sweetness of the dress with twisted metal earrings. Only $4.
The Deal: Now is a great time to pick up cheap and stylish tops, shoes and pants at Charlotte Russe because they’ll knock $25 off your order when it reaches $100. The offer expires June 30 Click here to use the discount.
What We Say: Charlotte Russe is a great store to pick up the latest trends, which generally should make up 30% of your wardrobe. Their website and store is full of popular styles like ombre, fluid silhouettes, bright florals, tuxedo jackets, pencil skirts and cocktail shorts. Charlotte Russe is a good choice for sexy, slinky going-out tops as well. Their extensive jewelry department has cute bangles, chandelier earrings, and long, charm necklaces.
Some of our choices:
Fluid, A-line silhouettes are becoming a trend quick—check out this one, patterned with stars. $19.99.
Pair these sateen shorts with platform sandals and a sexy camisole for a night on the town. $22.99.
This black and white floral handbag is big enough to hold all your necessities, plus your folder of coupons and iPod. $16.99.
Pictured: This beautiful dramatic, floral halter top also matches with the sateen shorts. The tube top inside provides extra coverage. $21.99.
Open up any fashion magazine and you’re bound to see at least one editorial/ad featuring an Interlocking Circle Necklace. Worn long and in a variety of colors, these necklaces are a major departure from the large, multi-layer, bubble bead look of last summer. You can find the necklaces at most major department and discount stores (Bloomies, Macy’s, Lord&Taylor, Target). I bought a black, plastic interlocking necklace this past weekend from Forever 21 for $4.90 and another white circle interlocking necklace with a gold chain woven throughout the necklace, for $12.95 at Ashley Stewart. I would also suggest looking at your local Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal, and Rampage stores.
