New Fragrance from Jennifer Lopez, Do You Care?

July 3, 2009 04:00 PM | Comments (2) | Posted in celebrity style, fragrance, celebrity fashion lines, jlo

What: Jennifer Lopez recently scrapped her Sweetface fashion line, but don’t think she’s done with the fashion world just yet. Now she’s launched a new fragrance called - MyGlow -, a follow up to her many other scents, including Miami Glow and Glow after Dark. Let us guess… the theme is “glow?” This particular perfume was inspired by her 16-month-year-old twins, featuring “lavender, water lily, freesia, white rose, wet leaves, peony, casablanca lily, skin musk, sandalwood, precious woods and heliotrope.”

What We Say: Wonder why so many celebs are churning out the fragrance lines? Well, it’s because it a very profitable business- it takes less than $5.00 to make one bottle of the type of fragrance that celebs like J.Lo hawk for more than $40 bucks. Also fragrances are considered affordable luxuries, so during a down economic time when people can’t afford $2,000 purses, they can afford $40 bottles of perfume.

Eva Longoria: Look for Less

June 12, 2009 06:59 AM | Comments (0) | Posted in look for less, celebrity fashion, celebrity style, eva longoria

Eva Longoria Parker has had some hits and some sure-fire misses, but we straight out adore her dress from the Critic’s Choice Awards. We especially love that it’s not something only teeny tiny Eva could pull off - the banded waistline hides any sort of pooch. Although our alternative doesn’t sport the beautiful jeweled belt, it’s got plenty of room for you to breathe. And we actually think it’ll do more justice to your legs than the original.

We’re guessing Eva spent upwards of $1,000 on her version, so we found a version for the tax-refund-busting amount of $390 (yeah, we know, not cheapest, but if you’re a Hollywood celeb $400 bucks is what you spend on non-fat soy lattes each month)

Here’s how to get the look for, hmm, less:
The Dress: Sue Wong Jeweled Bubble Dress from Neiman Marcus, $390

The Shoes: Patent Pumps from Charlotte Russe, $22.99

The Purse: Heritage Canvas Soft Clutch from Liz Claiborne, $24.99

Victoria Beckham: Look for Less

Victoria Bekcham

Victoria Beckham is not really a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal - after all, she’s the “posh” one. However, from time to time, she does bust out a casual look that those of us not married to a handsome superstar soccer playing husband can pull out, like the look shown above, which is pretty achievable for the average fashionista on a small budget. It’s a laid back outfit that still is sexy as ever - notice how sheer, or better yet see-through her top is. (Wear an undershirt if you’re not feeling so bold.)

How to Get the Look for Less:

Shirt: Alternative Apparel Beater Tank in Charcoal, $24, from Revolve Clothing, or try this basic $25.99 tank top from Surf Fanatics

Pants: RVCA Dem Pants in Vintage White, $52, from Revolve Clothing

Shoes: Taupe Ivory Satin Heels, $69.95, from NathanShoes.com

Sunglasses: Flight Small Aviator Sunglasses, $24, from FreePeople.com

Bag: Taupe Tianni Hobo, $30.25, from Endless

New Online Shopping Boutique: Shopmamie.com

July 14, 2008 07:30 PM | Comments (0) | Posted in online shopping, dresses, celebrity style

What:   A new online shopping boutique called Shopmamie.com has just launched. All their apparel and accessories are less than $100!

What We Say: You’re probably asking the question we first did when we found out about this site: “Really? Everything’s only $100 or less?” Yes, it’s true. The dresses, sweaters, tops, skirts, and the (two) jackets they carry right now are less than $100. In fact, many are less than $70. The pieces are mostly solid colors, and what prints they do have are simple—stripes, circles, and florals. They’re very pretty and feminine. Above, a dress from Shopmamie. Looks simple enough from the front, but the crisscross straps in the back bump it up a notch. Price? $68.00.

What do you think of this new site? Did you just bookmark it? Because you know we did.

Jennifer Lopez: Look for Less

July 3, 2008 09:00 PM | Comments (0) | Posted in look for less, celebrity style

Let’s face it, Jennifer Lopez knows how to turn heads. Um, hot color? Check. Bold metallic accessories? Check. Looking super cool despite the raging summer heat? Uh, check. Being that we’re usually running around with frizzy hair and ducking behind the desk to reapply the anti-perspirant midday, you might have to work out that last part yourself, but the first two? We got ya covered. J.Lo’s got fortune enough to do it all designer, but we’ve put together a very wearable daytime version for less:

Lux Flutter Sleeve Knit Dress, $38, Urban Outfitters (note: we realize J. Lo’s dress is a luxe shiny silk, but we went for something a little more practical. If you love the sheen, however, and don’t mind slipping some leggings on underneath, check out this Satin Tunic Dress from Newport News, $39)

Michael Kors Belt, $33, Bluefly.com

Polished Metal Hoops, $3.80, Forever21.com

Metal Bangles Set, $6.80, Forever21.com

Collage Metallic Hobo, on sale $54.99, Nine West

For your feet? We’re not sure what J. Lo had on here, but may we suggest a sexy Gladiator Heel, on sale $29, Delia’s, or, if you prefer something more condusive to, say, walking, this Gladiator Sandal, $19.50, Old Navy

Celebrity Fashion: Beyonce on a Budget

November 6, 2007 01:03 PM | Comments (4) | Posted in celebrity fashion, celebrity style, budget shopping, beyonce, Beyonce

Beyonce

As a style diva, Beyonce is known for her over-the-top moments both on the red carpet and on stage—while she pulls it off like no one else, the rest of us would be hard-pressed to want, much less be able, to wear shiny gold hot pants on any given day.
Fortunately, as a style icon, Beyonce manages to give even jeans and a t-shirt a little extra diva-liciousness. Did we just make that word up? Regardless, you can get it too, by putting together these easy pieces:
Chadwick jacket

Short bomber jacket from Chadwick’s on sale now, $59.00

Forever 21

Braided knit hat, Forever 21, $8.80

Mossimo scoopneck

White scoop neck long-sleeve tee, Target, $8.99

Gap

Long and Lean jeans, from Gap, on sale now, $48.

gold bag

It’s hard to tell just what’s happening with the bag, but just to get a little of that gold vibe, we picked this Genna de Rossi from JC Penney, on sale now for $34.99
