I recently chatted with the fabulous and talented Vanessa Williams. As the former first black Ms. America, Vanessa Williams certainty paved the way for African Americans in the 80’s and continues to amaze us with her fashion icon status, musical talents, and diverse acting credits, including her recent stint on Ugly Betty as the uber-villainous diva Wilhemina. Ms. Williams also shares the tips to her amazing skin and de-mystifies the world of botox. Listen up for the latest scoop!
Today on Shoptalk, I chat with Lien Ta, managing editor of Hollywood.com. Lien gives us the scoop on all things hollywood and what movies to see (District 9) and what movies to skip (Time Travelers Wife).
Today I chat with two time Emmy winning Actress Heather Tom, who plays Katie Logan on ABC’s “Bold and The Beautiful” about working the Emmy red carpet and how to score great deals at thrift stores.
Three Things You’ll Learn From My Interview with Heather
- Flea Markets are great places to not only pick up items for your home, but vintage clothing as well.
- It takes village to prepare an actress (and actor) for the red carpet
- There’s nothing wrong with mixing a little Targe’ (aka Target) with high end designers like Zac Posen

Today I chat with Debby Ryan, who stars as Bailey Pickett, a smart, lovable southern girl who leaves her small town home for the first time to explore the world while attending Seven Seas High on the SS Tipton in the Disney Channel comedy series “The Suite Life on Deck.”
Three Things You’ll Learn from Our Interview with Debby
- The kid stars on the Disney channel really are that sweet in person. Debby was so cool, that I now DVR the “Suite Life” and I haven’t watch the Disney channel in like 5 years (okay that’s a little lie, I did DVR “High School Musical”). Also she helped me score big time cool points with my pre-teen niece.
- Teens like Wal-Mart. Target is good, but when you’re on a strict allowance, Wal-Mart
is the way to go. The kids also like crafts, so I think Debby and Mark (from April 17th’s Show), should get together.
- California Governor Arnold Schaweggzeger probably couldn’t handle a bedazzler- but wouldn’t you love to just hear him say the word “bedazzler”.

Today I chat with my dear friend Pam Pekerman, HSN’s bag expert and founder of BagTrends.com.
Three Things You’ll Learn From Our Interview with Pam
- Throwing your bags in the corner of your closet isn’t a good way to protect them. Purchase bag covers or make your own with old white pillow cases.
- Like any good pet owner, you must walk your bags, cause if you don’t they will mess all over your closet. Okay, they won’t but what’s the sense of having things in your closet if you never use them. It’s about quality and value, not quantity.
- If you still hanging on to your fake Louis Vuitton cause it makes you feel “proud” when you’re standing in the unemployment line, please let it go. I mean, really.

Today I chat with celebrity designer Mark Montano of TLC’s “While You Were Out” and STYLE Network’s “My Celebrity Home” about how to make some easy fashion and décor pieces at a fraction of what you’d pay in a store. s.
Three Things You’ll Learn From our Interview with Mark
- Mark’s Book,The Big ### Book of Crafts, really is a big ### book of crafts. Like hundreds of them. Read it and you’ll be overcome with the urge to jump in your car and head to your nearest Michael’s (make sure to bring a coupon).
- It’s amazing what you can do with a bottle of glitter, some tree leaves, and elmer’s glue. Listen to the interview to learn more.
- Having a craft night with friends and family is an excellent (and cheap… really cheap) way to get together. Rather than take your kids to a movie- which can run you up to $40 (when all they really want is to watch Wall-E for the 15th time), stay at home and make something together. Then watch Wall-E cause it really is a good movie.

In this episode of ShopTalk, I chat with Tweet, the R&B diva who wrote and sung that infamous song about self-love titled “Oops (Oh My)”, which became a global hit and theme song for single women (and, uhh, a few married women) everywhere. She takes a bit of time to chat with me about shopping at Target, teen fashion, and self love before the release of her third album, Love Tweet, this spring.

When it comes to undergarments, I’m all about the packaging—everything should be properly placed and pointing in the same direction (to understand the importance of packaging just look at an episode of VH1’s “I Love New York 2”). So, I was totally hyped to chat with Dr. Robert Rey, plastic surgeon extraordinaire and star of the strangely addictive E! show “Dr. 90210” who together with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi, recently developed a new shapewear line for Sears and HSN. This line packages so well that it makes Spanx look like training garments (note—go one size up if you like to breathe). According to Dr. Rey, who is bit crazy in a fabulous sort of way, the undergarments are “plastic surgery in a box”, reducing you by one full dress size.
View Dr. Rey’s Shapewear line on HSN. Price points range from $27.00-$60.00 and the collection is also available in Plus sizes.

Today I chat with Constance Marie, actress and former David Bowie break dancer, who you guys know best as the hardworking and devoted wife of George Lopez on The George Lopez show. What you may not know is that Constance has a new clothing line, the Constance Marie collection, exclusive to Mervyns Stores.
I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t all that hyped about yet another celebrity fashion line. However, I loved the fact that the line has affordable fashion options in sizes 4-24 for a long overlooked market, Latina fashionistas. Plus, I was dying to know what it was like pop-locking for David Bowie.
Check out the Constance Marie Collection at Meryvns.

We’ve had quite a few discussions on TBF about the state of plus size fashion (verdict: it’s pretty sad). So I was excited to sit down and chat with my friend, celebrity plus size designer and stylist, Monif C. Monif has dressed pretty much every plus size celebrity from Jennifer Hudson (who wore one of her dresses on the red carpet) to funny lady Mo’ Niq and is constant presence in top fashion magazines like Essence, Latina, and Marie Claire and even homegirl Tyra has tapped the designer for fashions for her shows.
Listen to my interview with celebrity plus size designer, Monif C. and learn:
- NEW fashion tips for plus size fashionistas
- Why stores don’t carry plus size fashions
- What color every plus size fashionista on a budget should avoid
- The power of a good wrap dress
And much, much more!

Pauley Perrette stars as forensic lab expert Abby Sciuto, a character who proves intelligence and style aren’t mutual exclusive, on CBS’s top-rated primetime drama Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS). Born and raised in the south, Pauley guest starred on a bunch of television shows from “The Drew Carey show” to “JAG” as well as starred in several movies, including one of my favorites “Almost Famous”. When she’s not starring on a hit tv show, fronting an all female rock band, fighting for animal and civil rights, starting her own music label, or blogging, she is shopping at her local Salvation Army (love it!).
