What: The pound is stronger than the dollar, but don’t tell the folks at Barneys. Apparently the Kate Moss for Topshop line is being sold for significantly more in the US than in the UK.
What the fashion heads say: From Daily Mail:
Barneys, one of New York’s most iconic department stores, is charging its customers almost double what Brits pay for elements of Kate Moss’s Topshop collection. The current exchange rate is about $2 to the pound, but this doesn’t seem to be reflected in many of the prices paid by American fashion shoppers.
What I say: The line is sold at Barneys, one of New York’s most overrated and overpriced department stores (fact: Barney’s didn’t start selling women’s clothing to the late 70s/80s, it got it’s start as a men’s suit discount shop). A piece of lint in that sold costs at least $20.
