The Challenge: Everyone’s lusting after cashmere this fall, and who can argue with that? Contrary to popular belief, however, you don’t have to spend a bundle to bundle up, fashionably. One of these sweaters is a fine example of as close-to-budget as decent cashmere typically gets (barring a great sale)—the other is a crime against bargain shoppers everywhere.

So, which is which?

The Answer: The sweater on the left is just under a grand ($995 to be exact), at Barney’s. The cardie to the right is just under a hundred ($99, natch) at Dillard’s, which suddenly seems positively cheap, doesn’t it?
