What: A renewed interest among celebs and trendsetters in the harness boot.

What the fashion heads say: This, from InStyle.com: “Tough but classic harness boots are finding their way onto the feet of Hollywood’s most stylish stars. ‘The harness boot should really be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe,’ says Frye spokesperson, Jennifer Mooney.”

What we say: For those of you who are uncertain of the vocabulary—harness boots are a type of motorcycle boot, designed to protect the wearer from the heat of the exhaust, etc. For awhile now, however, high-profile stylish women have kept the harness boot in their wardrobe rotation—with nary a motorbike in sight. It’s hard to argue with the style judgement of folks like Ann Hathaway and Kiera Knightly, both of whom have been seen sporting the footwear, but we’re not sure we’ll be dumping any cash into this trend at the moment—sure, in theory the harness boots could be cute with jeans, in a rugged, rebel-without-a-cause kind of way, but we’re more in the mood for some of those sexy, stiletto boots we can wear to all the get-togethers this season. And keep in mind, the quote above about ‘a staple in every woman’s wardrobe’ came from a spokesperson for Frye, who just happens to make ‘em.
