Spring Fashion Trend: Multicolor
April 17, 2008 09:00 PM

As if the bold spring color trend wasn’t enough, the season is already kicking it up a notch—in a word, “multicolor.? Think shoes and handbags, and be glad—this means you just might find the perfect piece to pair with that cute and sassy yellow dress you just picked up on sale. This isn’t a look for the timid, of course—but as a fashionista, timid isn’t really in your vocabulary, is it? Good taste, however, is; to that end, some tips:

Confine the multicolor statement to an accessory to make the most of the trend without investing a fortune, like this Isaac Mizrahi for Target Multicolor Tote, $29.99; this pair of T-Strap Platform heels, $39 at Delias; or this tricolor headband from Forever21, $3.80.

Keep the multi-color indulgence casual with a striped tee—the trend is just begging to be part of weekend and/or vacation wear. We like this asymmetric Striped Top, just $12.80 at Forever21.

Don’t combine more than one multicolor piece please; only Rainbow Bright would attempt to pull off the striped t-shirt with colorblock heels and tri-color headband—and probably still not succeed. Instead, let your multicolor piece be the standout, and pair with neutrals, denim, and/or another solid hue.
