Fashion Trend: Superhero Inspiration
What: Taking fashion cues from comic books and superheros. No, we’re not kidding, but maybe it’s not as bad as it sounds.
What We Say: With superheroes dominating the summer movie menu, fashion is taking a cue and strong looks ensue. Should you dress up like Wonder Woman? Please, no. But can you have a little fun with your super-hero alter ego? It’s summer, so why not . Some ways to channel your fashion powers responsibly:
- The Logo Tee: Even the most serious of fashionistas can wear a t-shirt sometimes, and a superhero logo tee can be cool, too—wear it with a casual summer skirt or shorts and some flat gladiator sandals, and go. We kinda like this Batgirl Tee from Topshop, £16.
- Bold color: This is nothing new, but we’re thinking more in the vein of putting bold colors together with some body-conscious silouettes. It’s not as scary as it sounds: check out this ASOS Contrast Stitch Bandeau Dress, on sale $43.26, Asos.com. The fat gold bangles make it even more superhero-esque, without actually going into the realm of costume.
- Over the Top Shoes: Lately, there’s been a lot of cartoony looking shoes out there, and if you can’t have a little fun with your footwear, what’s the point? Perhaps these Colin Stuart Lazer Cut Wedge Sandals, on clearance at Victoria’s Secret for $44.99, will have you feeling like a comic book heroine, and while these may be just a bit out of the budget realm, we couldn’t pass up the big-screen ready Brenda shoe, $89.95, at Baker’s.
