Best Sunscreen on a Budget: Reader Advice

Sure, sunscreen can be had on the cheap—but we want one that A) works, B) stays on as long as humanly possible, and C) smells more like a Hawaiian vacation, less like Aspercreme. But we don’t intend to pay a small fortune to satisfy those reasonable demands, and that’s where you come in. You tell us—what’s your favorite effective, long-lasting, awesome-smelling sunscreen for less?

An updated standby: Coppertone Oil Free Sunscreen Lotion, $9.99, Walgreens.com

For me, No-Ad is the only sunscreen I’ll use.  Their range of products is very inexpensive, perfectly effective, and have the added bonus of not causing me to break out in a rash like a lot of other sunscreens do.  They’re also widely available.

I like Neutrogena Dry-Touch.  I got my tube on sale for $8 or so, and I really like it so far.  It comes in SPFs up to 85.  It doesn’t leave that oily feel on top of your skin, and I think it smells pretty good.  Another plus-- it was on the list of recommendations my dermatologist gave me. :)

I really like Coppertone’s Water Babies sunscreen, ever since we first started to use it on my grandkids.  It has a light fragrance, an SPF of at least 45 and comes in lotion, pump spray, and now aerosol form.  It seems to last quite well even during swimming.  For day to day sun protection, I’ve been using Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with an SPF of 15 for arms, neck and chest.  Aveeno Positively Radiant lotion with SPF 15 for face.  (Had a melanoma removed from my arm 3 yrs. ago, so sunscreen is a must!)

my favorite sunscreen is by trukid.
it works really well on sensitive skin,
it smells great (fresh, not funky), rubs in easily and has a great list of natural ingredients!
enjoy the summertime!
