Spring Fashion Trend: The T-Strap Shoe

We’re always borrowing from some other era, and in footwear right now, the 40s-inspired T-strap is big. We’re liking it because you can wear it in the classic way -- a t-strap pump -- or in a thoroughly modern version, like a colored platform, like this one from Newport Newsor even a fun patent sandal like this number at Old Navy. Some suggestions on making the trend work for you:
~ Pair a traditional T-strap pump with an A line or pencil skirt, or dress shorts (especially the new high-waisted silouette). T-strap sandals and flats give you more leeway, and we especially like them with some of Spring's feminine full skirts.
~ Keep the outfit modern with up to the minute details, like a ruffled top, bright colored dress, or chunky bangles to assure that your t-straps don't take you into a retro costume look
~ If your ankles are thicker than you'd like, you might want to skip this trend -- we never recommend a trend that highlights what is (or what you perceive to be) a trouble spot.
