Cover Girl Queen Lasting Lipliner: Product Review

What: Angela glides on Cover Girl’s Queen Lasting Lipliner

The Lowdown: Not being a big fan of lipstick, my favorite way to add a little color to my pout is to fill in with lipliner, and glide on some clear gloss. The problem? Like any other lipcolor, staying power is tough to come by. This Queen collection lipliner claims to be “lasting.” Does it live up to that promise? We’ll see.

I’ve found that true pencils (the kind you have to sharpen) generally are longer lasting than the twist up kind, and this Lasting Lipliner is of the latter variety, so I had my doubts. It does, ...

July 3, 2009 04:00 PM | Comments (1) | Posted in Fashion News

What: Jennifer Lopez recently scrapped her Sweetface fashion line, but don’t think she’s done with the fashion world just yet. Now she’s launched a new fragrance called - MyGlow -, a follow up to her many other scents, including Miami Glow and Glow after Dark. Let us guess… the theme is “glow?” This particular perfume was inspired by her 16-month-year-old twins, featuring “lavender, water lily, freesia, white rose, wet leaves, peony, casablanca lily, skin musk, sandalwood, precious woods and heliotrope.”

What We Say: Wonder why so many celebs are churning out the fragrance lines? ...

Clairol Natural Instincts: Product Review

July 3, 2009 09:00 AM | Comments (6) | Posted in Product Reviews

What: Angela changes it up with Natural Instincts

The Lowdown: There was a time when coloring your hair at home was a real risk—not only were the results not guaranteed to be great, they were permanent. Natural Instincts was one of the first non-permanent haircolors (lasts through twenty-some shampoos) we can remember on the market, and has managed to stick around for a reason.

If you’ve never colored your hair before, Natural Instincts is super easy to use. Mix it in the applicator bottle, and apply to damp hair. Leave on for somewhere between 10-20 minutes, and rinse and ...

What: Crabtree & Evelyn—the ubiquitous bath and beauty products store known for its yummy-smelling soaps and lotions—filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New York this week due to a “decline in consumer spending.” Although company executives say day-to-day operation of the 126 Crabtree & Evelyn stores across 34 states is unlikely to be affected, they are planning to close some of their less-profitable outlets at some point in the future.

July 2, 2009 11:48 AM | Comments (0) | Posted in Fashion News

What: A new report has come out that suggests shoppers aren’t as optimistic about the economy as originally hoped. While consumer confidence was steadily going up in March, April, and May, it’s now dropped again. This surprised all the forecasters out there, and has everyone worrying that retail sales will take another beating for the remainder of the summer.

What They Say:

Lynn Franco, director of The Conference Board Consumer Research Center, said in a statement that the decline in consumers’ current view — caused by a less favorable assessment of business conditions and ...

July 1, 2009 07:42 AM | Comments (0) | Posted in Fashion News

What: Sporty pregnant woman no longer have to wear their hubbys’ over-sized NFL shirts. Mommies-to-be who love football can now look the part, without sacrificing their figure. Reebok’s new line of maternity wear features long and short sleeved t-shirts with team logos and/or various sayings on them (like “Mom’s Tiny Kicker” - so cute, it makes us gag a little). The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a natural pick to model the line - as her husband’s a former quarterback, and she’s expecting.

What They Say:

“Women love football because it brings the family together,” said Tiffany ...
