“THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER BEING SOLD”
What: White eyeliner, eye shadow and even mascara are taking up real estate in the cosmetic department.
What the experts say: This from the January 2008 issue of Angeleno magazine: “White [makeup] was everywhere in the spring shows,” reveals J.P. McCary, the principal makeup artist for Shu Uemura. “Salvatore Ferragamo and Marni showed the shade beautifully.”
What we say: Runway styles don’t always translate to real life, and this definitely applies to the white makeup trend. Just try wearing white mascara to work and your co-workers are ...
Read MoreWet ‘n’ Wild has long been a friend of budget stylistas when it comes to getting beauty basics on the cheap. So it makes sense then, with the rise in popularity of mineral products, that they’d get on board with their own mineral collection, “Beauty Benefits. And we’re delighted to hear it.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, products will include natural ingredients, like golden seaweed and marine fennel, intended to promote skin health, retain moisture and increase radiance. Price points are slightly higher than traditional Wet ...
Read MoreWhen I think of Hubert de Givenchy (pronounced: jee-vaughn-shay ), I think of Audrey Hepburn outside of Tiffany’s decked out in that now classic black shift, pearls, sunglasses, and an impossibly chic blond streaked beehive. The stye icon’s partnership with Givenchy was one of the first public partnerships between an actress and a designer- he gave Audrey her style, she showcased his designs to the world. It was a partnership that lasted over 40 years (interesting fact: Givenchy thought he was going to meet and dress the other Hepburn (Kathryn), when he ...

Ann Taylor is branching out, adding a beauty line to her already bountiful offerings just in time for the holiday shopping frenzy.
We like Ann Taylor for her willingness to admit that real folks like good fashion, too (evidenced in her Loft division, which isn’t quite as budget as we’d love but definitely a step in the right direction). It appears - we’re happy to report - that her approach to cosmetics and fragrance will reflect the same, including plans for items to be available at all levels of the Ann Taylor brand.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Ann Taylor Body Care will feature ...
Read MoreI love Mariah Carey and here’s why: Mariah reminds me of a time when our celebrities were crazy AND talented. No matter how many video show melt downs or weird boob jobs she has, the girl can sang (no, not a grammatical mistake, sang is one step above singing). She’s got talent, she’s beautiful, and she’s crazy- which is exactly how I like my divas.
So like, her talented-but-crazy-diva-fore-mothers like Elizabeth Taylor, she recently partnered up with the folks at Elizabeth Arden for a new perfume called, M by Mariah. The perfume is, well, like a Mariah Carey song- technically very ...
Read MoreThe Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (who knew?) reports that lipsticks by popular makers ranging from Cover Girl to L’Oreal to Christian Dior all contain lead, the inclusion of which is not regulated by the FDA. So what does this mean for you?
Well, we all know that while the lipstick is supposed to stay on the lips, that’s not always the case - ingesting some is a given. And according to the CSC people, scientific evidence suggests that no level of lead is completely safe.
So what’s the alternative? Our friends at Shefinds.com have done some legwork, suggesting a handful of lead-free ...

What: The latest beauty blog buzz is all about Soap & Glory Cosmetics, scheduled to land any second at a Target near you.
What the beauty heads say: This from Girlawhirl.com: “Ever since [girlawhirl] tried Marcia Kilgore’s latest creation, Soap & Glory Cosmetics when they were introduced in England last summer, she’s been dying to have the fun, hard-working and well-priced bath, body and beauty items available to her here, instead of carrying back multiples or asking London Super Pals to bring them for her when they visit her in the states ”
