What: Angela gets spritzed with Chaps Weekend Perfume.
The Lowdown: Chaps is not a brand name that inspires a great deal of confidence regarding women’s fragrances. Sold at Kohl’s, it strikes me as very conservative and quite the opposite of high end. The packaging for the new Chaps Woman Weekend Perfume doesn’t help—the box is printed all around with a bland pink cable knit, with the Chaps logo (which always makes me think of lassos and cowboy boots) front and center. The bottle is a bit better, though, and I know, I know ... never judge a book and all that ...

Markdownalert.com is a subscription newsletter that regularly sends alerts for the latest sales, discounts and coupons that come in to their database. After signing up for this service, a shopper chooses a basic category of interest (“Women - Apparel, Accessories & Shoes” versus “Home Decor - Bed, Bath” and three other categories.) Unfortunately, shoppers can’t narrow alerts by retailer, discount percent, price range, style, or anything else, so you’re limited to receiving the deals the site wants to send you (or those that they have an affiliate relationship with).

Read MoreSortprice.com is another shopping search engine (check out the 15 best price comparison sites guide), which fuses price comparison (like PriceGrabber.com) with visual product matching (as Like.com does). They’re celebrating their 5-year anniversary with the release of a new “improved layout for quicker access” to products, a subscriber newsletter, a list of popular products and searches, and updated product reviews.
Here’s our review:
The search engine: A quick search via Sortprice.com, for the popular “Paige Denim Laurel Canyon, Lagoon” jeans, resulted with two hits, and a low price ...
Read MoreIf you’ve ever used Digg.com before, you won’t have any trouble buying the philosophy of RetailFans.com... the question is, will RetailFans.com help you buy beauty and fashion products you like? The answer is probably not… for now.
The budding site has a pretty straightforward model: register an account, submit products, and become fans of products you like. The products with the most fans float to the top of the page, while the least popular ones drop to the bottom… you get the drift. Right now, the “plum bowling purse” has the most fans—and for a brand-new site like this, that means ...

An eyeliner is one of the essential eye makeup products along with eye shadow and mascara. It enhances the shape of the eyes while also giving them an edgy appeal. The ancient Egyptians were among the first to outline their eyes with pigment for beautification, but also for spiritual reasons. Today, eyeliner is mainly used to accentuate the eyes, and to create that ultra sexy smokey eye look. You can find numerous brands at drugstores for under $10, but designer makeup brands are often over $20. So we wondered, is there a big difference between them?
After some research, we decided ...
Read MoreOne of the great beauty prerogatives we enjoy is freedom of haircolor—and, like the true budget fashionistas we are, we’d prefer not to pay an arm and a leg, thanks. Of course for major overhauls we’d have to say (from, ahem, personal experience) letting the pros handle it is probably best, but for more subtle changes (a little lighter, darker, redder, a few highlights) there’s no reason you can’t do it at home for less. However, not all home haircolor products are created equal—so what are your picks for great home haircolor products?

There are few better ways to cut back on your beauty budget than to make your own beauty booty yourself. This week, we’re sharing one of the quickest and easiest ways to get a bronzy glow a la J.Lo – without spending a whole lotta dough.
Lopez’s longtime makeup artist, Scott Barnes, has credited body oil with giving her the golden, dewy skin that’s arguably her best accessory (besides maybe her much-hyped derriere). The gorgeous girls of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show also swear by shimmer-infused lotions to get their legs looking fabulous as they strut down the runway ...

A bit of blush can go a long way in giving you a fresh and pretty look. Makeup artists are always singing the praises of a good blush and the wonders it can do for one’s complexion. In fact, if you only have time to apply one item of makeup before heading out, blush is your best bet because it will simultaneously brighten up your face and add a touch of glamour. It’s universally agreed that blush is an essential product in any beauty bag, but why do some cost up to thirty bucks while others can be bought for a mere five?
Eager to find out I marched straight to the Lancome counter ...
