Regardless if this tip could be confused with an observation, it is nonetheless important enough to mention. It is perhaps the simplest and least expensive accessory for any outfit or occasion that you already have – your smile.
Do you ever walk by a mirrored surface unexpectedly and catch a glimpse of yourself “in action” – then do a double-take with the quick thought, “Is that what I really look like to the rest of the world?â€?
Yes. Yes, that’s you. Marching along in the outfit you spent precious time debating over, accessorizing dutifully, with a great hair do, exfoliated skin, pampered nails, lips glossed, scent-spritzed. Done.
So what’s missing?
If I’m so happy, so content with the fit of my shoes, feeling the love from my newly acquired hobo bag and the way it compliments my aforementioned shoes, then why did I just catch a reflection of a person who appears less-than?
If you can relate to this feeling of disappointment after all the effort put into a morning routine – to see a dull appearance in any mirror other than the one in your bathroom – then perhaps I’m not alone having lingered on this question.
With almost thirty (eh hem) years of seeing myself-in-action in train windows slowing toward the platform, or in the glass of stores or city buildings, I finally figured out what is missing. My smile.
And if you look around, into the faces of strangers and passers-by, coworkers, drivers, clerks - you will see how common it is to forget this most important accessory we should wear everyday.
Perhaps some of your eyeballs are rolling at the gooey nature of this tip – and this, I understand. But I guarantee the next time you are waiting at a stop light, or even sitting amongst classmates or coworkers, you will observe it for yourself. You will see people whose smiles would drastically improve his or her head-to-toe appearance.
