How could clothing designers/manufacturers help out the mature fashionista?

Maybe they'll read this!! I'll start out. I want:
1. clothes for the gym. I want knee-length gym shorts that are NOT like spandex...loose-fitting but not baggy (not butt-hugging, panty-line-showing), made out of quick-dry fabric (I actually sweat at the gym), have pockets, and hey, how about reversible? My current favorite gym shorts came from the boys' department...but they do sort of look like it!
2. fun summer shoes that are not sandals (so I can wear them to church with pantyhose...I feel uncomfortable with bare legs in church, not to mention that my legs look better!) and, if they are flat, with some support in the arch (those shoe inserts for plantar fasciitis don't fit in every shoe).
3. skirts with lining (try to find a good half-slip lately?)
4. lightweight white pants (e.g., not denim) that you can't see through (really, a thong only works for someone who has a perfectly firm rear...and can stand to wear one!)

and that's just off the top of my head.
What about you?

By making clothes in a variety of sizes. 10, 12, 14, 16 and even beyond!
I really love to support young designers, but when I see they only sell sizes 2, 4, 6, I can tell their really missing the boat.

I agree with both above posters.

I am a larger size, an 18 W to be exact and a lot of North America is above a size 12 so why doesn't the industry follow the money trail.

I'm a mid 50's baby boomer, and surely they've figured out there is a bulge there demographically speaking, altho a lot of us are also fighting a tummy even at size 2 or 4 once we hit a certain age. Some cuts accent that bulge and make people look pregnant like the current smocky empire waist offerings.

I'm not into wearing the hip hugging thong revealing muffin topped jeans look so popular over the last decade but I still want jeans that have a little butt lifting action, and cover me decently without devolving into the "mom jeans" from the late eighties.

Not just the range of sizes, but more selection for "special" sized women. There should be more out there for petites, including plus-size petites, and more for talls.
