I'm planning to go to NY this xmas, for those of you who live in the Big Apple or know alot about it - where are the best places to shop(cheaply and with best quality) and visit.

I am planning to shop at :

Uniqlo
Woodbury Commons

Where are the best places in the Big Apple or nearby to find these items with the best quality and prices:

Wool/Cashmere single breasted high quality coat (pref. a midscale/upscale designer)
Cashmere sweaters (don't care about brands but about quality and color selection)
Coach/DB/ Marc by Marc Jacobs leather bag
Diane von Furstenberg wrapdress
Fabulous dark wash straight leg jeans for a cuvaceous yet slim woman in her forties - about a size 8

For all these things I will be shopping the day after christmas. Suggestions for stores to shop in at Woodbury commons are welcome.

-Uniqlo is a great store- especially for cashmere.
- also check out Zara, which is a like a pricey spanish version of H&M
- woodbury will be a mad house right after christmas- ge there VERY early (I think they open at 7am) and make sure you sign up for the VIP club to get exclusive coupons and a coupon for that coupon book.
- Stores change very often at woodburry, for ex: there used to be a prada/miu miu outlet. Right now Diane Von Furstenberg has an outlet there and so does coach and dooney burke. Coach's outlet is so-so, DB leaves a lot to be desired.

P.S. Rock and Repubic jeans are CRAZY expensive- but I was just at woodbury this past weekend and I saw several pair in the $100 range at LC Neiman Marcus…still too expensive- but cheap if you want a pair of high jeans with a "name"

Actually I think Miu Miu and Prada are actually listed as Space in the same store. at least thats what I saw at the website. Is Uniqlo's denim good?

Sorry for asking this question, because after I posted it… I found that you had a large post about discount shopping in NYC… Sorry… Thank you SO MUCH!

Try Century 21, Loehmann's, Daffy's, H&M. Also, Certain neighborhoods like Astoria have great shopping. I get good info from http://www.found4less.com. They have updates twice daily about shopping in NYC.

Actually Katherine, uniqlo wouldn't be such a great store for cashmere as you think.

Why don’t you plan your New York trip through http://www.centerd.com during Christmas. Websites like Center’d provide all the information that you would want to know about your city from the direction maps, to discount sale, details on restaurants, schools, shopping, entertainment and much more. It’s always great to find all the info in one place.
