According to this article in Women’s Wear Daily: http://www.wwd.com/issue/article/122792, WalMart’s fashion stock appears to be rising, as Target’s overall stock is tumbling. We’ve noticed some cute apparel on the racks at WalMart this spring, and we’re wondering if you’re finding yourself cruising the clothing aisles at WalMart? We still love our Target, but with the departure of Isaac Mizrahi, we’re feeling the need something new over there . . .

What do you think?

Not that I don’t love Target but I have not found much there lately either. I love the line called George at Walmart! They have very cute business casual items. I bought a few tops from the line last Spring/Summer and got a lot of compliments on them. I specifically remember one while I was shopping @ The Gap and one of the sales associates asked me where I got my cute top from and I was kinda of embarrassed to tell her, but I did…They have some cute skirts there in black and pastel colors that I will defiantly be checking out. I am so cheap though that I wait until they go on clearance=)

I also love the George line at Walmart but I use to shop at Target as well because I liked the clothes there.  The problem that I have is that I get alot of other things at Walmart that I don’t get at Target so if Walmart is getting a better stock of clothes then Yaa! for me.  Sometimes shopping at either store is hard for me because the selection of clothes in my size is small.  I am not a teenager but not an old lady yet, I need some good fashion in a resonable size.  Anyone else have that problem?

Definitely! Whether you’re smaller than average (as I am) or bigger, both Target and WalMart (and other chains like them) don’t seem to stock enough—for my taste—on either end of the spectrum. So many cute things that I find in just small and medium, or medium and large. I realize they stock according to sales, but it’s frustrating to simply not have certain things available to me (when I love them!).

Also, on the WalMart vs. Target issue, I’ve been finding cute shoes at WalMart, while the selection at Target has been a little more ho hum (with their most attractive styles getting pricier—I know they’re comparatively cheap, but still). Just picked up a pair of comfortable and great looking black patent pumps at WalMart for $12 . . .

Here’s the scoop- Target is suffering because they, like the Gap and Old Navy before them, spent way too much time focusing on the “youth” market with the Go International line rather than differentiating between their existing Merona, Mossimo, and other lines.  Wal-Mart, who was also struggling about a year ago, understood that their customers want great style at rock bottom prices and really don’t care so much about having a “name” attached to the line.

They also really cleaned up their stores- which was a hot mess. I just wish they would update their website

I was over at Target last week. Since the departure of Isaac, the local store no longer carries his line (other larger stores are stocking the last of his Spring line). One of my observations has been that there’s no vehicle for putting it all together—no displays, no sales people that seem to understand how the accessories relates to the outfits—regardless of lines.

Anyway, I was shopping and this lady with a teeny tiny baby was going through the racks. She was upset, I could tell. She said she had a party to go to and nothing to wear—her figure was still a little big. So I helped her pull together an outfit that didn’t make her feel like a tank, & still allowed her to breast feed. It was easy to do—and fun! I just wish if Target were going to stay in the game, they’d think of having fashion events or a Carson Kressley type to prowl in the aisles.

I agree—I think the GO International line was geared to a young demographic and jr. sizing.
I don’t know who they’ll get to take Isaac’s place. But there’ll be some pretty big shoes to fill.
