I’m a fan of the look of full lips, but definitely not interested in taking drastic measures to get them—so I’m curious about lipglosses and lipsticks that claim to plump lips. I recently picked up Wet n’ Wild’s Mega Plump lip plumping gloss (I tried it in Clear Ice)—smells very pepperminty, and the gloss is pretty, not too slippery, and sticks around—but did it plump my lips? Maybe a little, enough to make me want to continue using it, but not a dramatic difference by any means. So I’m wondering—anyone try other brands with great results? Do tell!

I like Covergirl Incredifull for lipstick plumping. After the actual lipstick wears off, a pretty red plump lip remains. I also love Sally Hansen’s Diamond Lip Treatment. Its a shimmery gloss that has a warm cocoa-ey smell and no taste, and a very hydrating feel on your lips. If you smack your lips together, it feels sticky. The gloss lasts a while for a gloss, but plumping lasts longer. Prep lips wiith exfoliatinon (washcloth) and then some type of oil or shea/cocoa butter. After that soaks in, apply a lip balm like Chapsticks Naturals. It hydrates which keeps moisture in the lips, plumping them a bit before.

can’t help you on this one. i’m still experimenting with with lipstick and lipgloss. i’ve tried revlon, clinique, skin food, loreal, body shop and even burts bees but every one of them chaps my lips! sometimes it scales and leaves a dark scar. it’s really horrible!

anyway, aside from those ill effects, i like revlon’s renewist! and i like the smell and tast of loreal’s glam lipstick!

I LOVE Buxom Lips by Bare Escentuals! It only has a slight tingle just to let you know it’s working. And the colors are all so complementary.

I’ve seen ads for products that claim to plump lips. Either they irritate the lips or they add moisture. The former- doesn’t last long enough for any real effect. The latter- any good lip balm will do that.

I’m a Mary Kay beauty consultant, and I teach women how to achieve these effects. Here is what I advise:

1) Start with a lip mask/exfoliant, and get rid of the dead skin.
2) Apply a good moisturizing balm and let it set for an hour or two. Before applying anything more, blot with a tissue.
3) Apply lip gloss.

Not only does it leave lips looking plumped, but it lasts for a while.

I ditto Mach above, but one thing I’d add.

There are a couple of lip plumpers that work differently to the irritants or glosses. Palmitoyl 3 and another peptide I can’t remember the name of. Avon has it in their plumping lip conditioner called Beyond Colour.

To see results you need to give it 6 weeks and apply it several times a day Minimum of 3 times. I’ve been using that Avon product for a while now—since it came out 2 or3 years ago and it really does work.

That said, I looked up the ingredienctts in my favourite Elizabeth Arden lipsticks and found out they have some in there too, so I’m getting it maybe 5 or 6 times a day.

I think anytime you irritate the skin, you cause damage down the road. The peptides stimulate collagen production and are a very new thing on the market.
